Chapter 1: Occam's ApartmentOff The Couch GamesEscape roomIRLThis was a fantastic escape room!! We have done a ton of escape rooms and this one flowed extremely well, had an interesting story, fantastic and unique puzzles, and a great atmosphere. Definitely recommend. We did it with a group of 3 experienced players and escaped in 60 minutes. The company gives you 105 minutes but charges by however long it takes you, so we got a discount for escaping sooner. I wouldn’t want to do this room with a giant group, so I would recommend keeping it at four people or fewer. One note, it is slightly scary and there is a moment with a live actor that freaked us out a bit (like, we screamed) but it wasn’t super scary the whole time and we are wimps-I just wouldn’t recommend for children. Also, there are mentions of murder and suicide. Shoutout to our game master, Alex, for being incredibly funny and welcoming.
Chapter 3: The MorgueOff The Couch GamesEscape roomIRLAgain, an absolutely amazing experience. This one was my personal favorite of the three available chapters (my mom liked the first one the most!). There was a perfect balance between challenge/difficulty while still continuously progressing, opportunities to split up, and a unique game design/point system that was really fun and well implemented. Certainly a very unique room with a lot of love and effort put in. This narrative “chapter”-style game is phenomenal and carefully crafted to provide a mix between an escape room, a video game, and a choose your own adventure book. Shoutout to our lovely GM Ken, as well as Jo who helped out and the owner Nick, who is super nice and extremely passionate! Be warned for spooky/scary atmosphere, a live actor, and lots of gore.
The Roosevelt Escape RoomPalace GamesEscape roomIRLThis was an absolutely incredible escape room. This was our first palace games room and although it was definitely expensive ($450 per room no matter the number of people) it was so much fun. I really liked that it was 90 minutes. We felt busy the whole time and there was enough for all of us to do so that nobody was bored. There were multiple puzzles that were very unique and very clever. The atmosphere/design/tech was all awesome. We were able to complete in 75 minutes with a group of three experienced adults, although the GM says less experienced players sometimes struggle. Absolutely recommend if you can spare the money (and you get a 15% off discount for your next booking btw).
Chapter 2: Norcross Art GalleryOff The Couch GamesEscape roomIRLAnother great game from OTC. We really appreciate that although the games are the same narrative and there are repeated story elements, none of the puzzles, events, or even atmospheres seem repetitive. This one had more opportunities to split up than the first one and some cool puzzles! It was definitely a bit more challenging for us, but in a fun way. For sure play the first chapter before this one, and be warned for creepy elements and a live actor. Thank you so much to our GM, Ken, for being incredibly welcoming and taking such amazing care of us!
Escape The City - New York City - Brooklyn [Outdoor]Escapely - BrooklynEscape roomOther We have done many of the Escapely outdoor escape rooms and this was our favorite!! Unique clues and a lovely little walk around Prospect Heights! Just a note, the Emma’s Torch cafe where they tell you to start has moved, so you should instead start in the area of the Brooklyn public library on Grand Army Plaza.
The DungeonBrooklyn Escape Room / ClaustrophobiaEscape roomIRLExcellent room!! Very immersive atmosphere. There were a lot of unique puzzles and tricky clues-it was challenging in a good way, because we didn’t breeze through it but were not slogging/stuck often. We did the room with three experienced people, even though the website recommends more, I think this is a good game for a smaller group of experienced players (although we barely escaped right in the nick of time!!). We also had to get one clue for this game. The game master, Mikal, was awesome!! They gave great clues and were very friendly. There were a couple things that were a little bit repetitive but overall the pros outweigh the cons and this is one of our favorite rooms in the area.
Spyscape [Immersive Experience]SPYSCAPEEscape roomOther Very fun! Not an escape room, a cool museum with interactive elements. If you buy into the spy stuff it’s a great time!
