The room was fun it does need a little TLC for sure. It had a good story line and took off from the beginning. The “tower” has a couple exposed wires although they are in an obscure spot but they could have easily been hidden. I really enjoyed this game. If the props and scenery were just a touch better it would have went into my top 5. This is a fun place, could have enjoyed a better lobby with more seating and since the host was late due to traffic, it would have been nice to have more of an “interactive” lobby. But other than that this game was fun and well done.

We did this game and although it was decent there are better narco inspired games out there. With that said this still had an Escapology feel. There were a couple puzzles in the room that I said out loud “how would we know that applied to that” after we were done management came in and agreed but because this place is a franchise there can’t be much done to change the puzzles. As always with Escapology, the staff was good. One of the guys that works there said he actually was not into escape rooms and is only there for a paycheck. That rubbed us the wrong way. Even though he was cordial and nice, how are you as a game master, host supposed to connect with your players if you don’t care for your product. But the room was okay. Tech worked, some of the props were lost in translation a bit and could have been used better.

The Perfect Escape

So I would have LOVED this game if it weren’t for a couple things. First off the set design is great. You can tell there are some things with wear and tear that could probably use some TLC. The gameplay was great. This room is so much fun and so much to do. You have to work very fast. We did it with two people but it was a lot to do. Would have loved the room, in fact probably would have been in my top 10 all time easily if it weren’t for a few things. One is the GM, as great as he was, we were in the room for about 4 minutes and he already started with the nudges. He was telling us to do one thing when it was already figured out and actually cost us more time doing it how he wanted but with the same result. Secondly, there was a piece that was left out (or not cleaned up from the previous game) that allowed us to skip ahead without doing a puzzle but cost us valuable time once the GM realized we bypassed the puzzle and we had to explain that we found a piece. Next, one of the essential keys in the was pocketed by someone in the previous game and was not caught by the GM and when we explained there was nothing in the opening, it broke the immersion and caused a lull in gameplay. Lastly, there was one of the final puzzles that really made me scratch my head. We had to be told where to look and how to look because the “code” was in an area that no one would have looked at from the angle in which it needs to be. A simple paper “blowing out” or a light broadcasting would have been a much simpler and more effective solution. All in all this room was great I had fun and as much as I wanted to put it in my top 5 games o shout it out, I just couldn’t. But don’t let the above deter you. This room is definitely is a MUST do.

The Escape Game - Grapevine Mills

Once the second half of the game gets going it gets better. The first part there wasn’t a critical prop in the room which is key for something else. Therefore we had to guess and luckily didn’t take much time guessing. The second half stalled a bit until we were able to figure out what it was telling us. There wasn’t anything new but it was well done as usual for the company and overall an entertaining room.

The Code is probably the easiest game they have. In my opinion it’s a little weird getting into but by the second or third room the immersion starts. Not difficult at all. There are a couple aesthetic things that could be done to improve the game and it needs some TLC. This is an older game oratleast it seems that way. It was fun but you shouldn’t have to use the entire time. Two of us did this in 40 Minutes and probably would have been out five minutes sooner but one of the puzzles is a little misleading.

Some people can’t stand space games, some people can’t stand the detective genre games, I can’t stand science genre games. Just a love hate relationship. With that being said it flows well and was about as fun as a science room can be for me. There was one very odd ordeal where something is used twice so we had to use a hint for that. I wasn’t too excited about that but it was a fun game and if you love science or don’t mind science based games it’s a good play.

This game was fun. It’s more of a murder mystery. Who done it kind of a game. But it was fun putting the clues together and figuring out what went with what. I don’t really have any grapes about the game. I wish it was a bit longer. I also wish that there was some sort of interaction and not just reading heavy puzzles. But it was a fun room one that finished out our cay games. Now that we’ve played all of them, Budapest express ranks right up there with the rest of them. Escape is a good company with good games.

Best game master for the day was June. Hands down. She was on point, energetic, and paid attention. Can’t ask for anyone better. From someone that has played all three chapters, this final chapter seemed a bit rushed to be put into the rotation. The story was good. The scenery was good. Puzzles were good but we all believed the first two parts were better. With that being said it was as still a good game and if you’ve played any of the others, this is of course a must play to get the full story. Hope you get GM June. She was great. Made the game what it was.

Escape Room San Antonio - Stone Oak

This game was good. It seems to be a growing theme though that a Harry Potter esque room is constructed the same way. Unfortunately that brings the quality of the room to just ok since we’ve seen this exact entry room construction in a couple other houston area locations as well. Nothing really stood out. Was fun and flowed well though. Everything made sense so kudos to the person that created the puzzles. The game was fun. Some puzzles went way off the Harry Potter esque script but were still fun to do. All tech worked, just wish there was more of it and less physical locks since this was a “magical” room.
