King Of The BootleggersSecret City Adventures - Casa LomaEscape roomIRLI absolutely loved this room. It is so cool getting to traverse through an actual castle while doing an escape room and the actress that I ended up following was phenomenal. The storyline and puzzles change based on which of the live actors you’re following and I’m sure that there are varying levels of satisfaction you get from that, but I really enjoyed my storyline. It is a little strange though that since the group is split up, you will never be doing parts of a different room. Not my favorite aspect of it, but still enjoyed it a lot. More heavy on immersion, theme, and storyline than puzzles though. The puzzles were a bit weak.
The Pharaoh's TombThe Perfect EscapeEscape roomIRLThis was a great room with an absolutely great immersion factor and satisfying puzzles. A lot of tomb ones can be pretty hit or miss, but this one really is one of the best of this genre.
Save The Fleet - CLOSEDEscape UEscape roomIRLI had done their Asylum escape room prior to this and had high expectations because I loved that room so much, but this one just didn’t measure up. It wasn’t as immersive and the puzzles weren’t as satisfying.
The Ice CaveDaydream Adventures - DanforthEscape roomIRLThe set design in this was very beautiful, but the puzzles didn’t really seem to follow any linear pattern and seemed a little jumbled at times. It also felt sometimes like there wasn’t enough for everyone in the room to be doing.
Mission: MarsThe Escape Game - MinneapolisEscape roomIRLI usually love both space and escape rooms, but the puzzles didn’t feel super clear or cohesive to me in this room.
Escape from the TowerSecret City Adventures - Casa LomaEscape roomIRLI’ve done different escape rooms at Casa Loma and you really can’t beat the environment of it. Traversing through a castle during an escape room is undeniably cool. This one also incorporated puzzles better into it than other rooms I’ve done here, but also seemed to have less of a compelling story so you have trade offs.
Zombie v.2 - CLOSEDEscape Hotel HollywoodEscape roomIRLThe room itself was great immersion, but the puzzles had a lot of technical difficulties or needed to be done in a very specific way that wasn’t super intuitive and made us get stuck when we had the right idea, but couldn’t get the exact right execution.
The Order - CLOSEDI Survived The RoomEscape roomIRLThere were some cool immersion elements, but the groups are split up in the beginning and one room’s puzzles are less satisfying than the other room’s. Not the best puzzles I have done.
Passport To Iron City - CLOSEDAlita ExperienceEscape roomIRLI wouldn’t really call this an escape room - more like a jumbled assortment of arcade games that was confusing to navigate.
Rugrats: Search For The Losted Toys - CLOSEDThe Escape Game - King of PrussiaEscape roomIRLThis room was good, but something that we didn’t realize going in was that it was essentially just a reworked version of their Playground room. A lot of the puzzles were the same and since many of us had already done playground, it wasn’t a great experience. However I’m still giving it a positive rating because without that prior knowledge, it would’ve been a great room.
Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRLWe came to this room after going to a bottomless brunch which I would not recommend as drunk adults had a hard time figuring it out. With that being said, the immersion factor of this was really cool and some of the tech used in the room was also very impressive.
Maze Of Hakaina - CLOSEDKomnata QuestEscape roomIRLThis is to date one of the best escape rooms I’ve ever done. The story was incredibly well set-up and the mood was set extremely well and there were multiple moments that made my group audibly gasp from how great it was. Could not recommend more.
Grandma's Masterplan60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRLParts of this room were really cool and had fantastic set design and parts of it left something to be desired. It seems a bit imbalanced with parts of the game feeling a little more thrilling than other parts, but overall it was a good room.
Asylum - CLOSEDEscape UEscape roomIRLThis room was super cool and had a part of the room where a live actor actually interacted with the game, which always adds an extra dose of immersion. The puzzles were hard, but that was expected and still satisfying.
Limitless - CLOSEDKomnata QuestEscape roomIRLThe concept of it is cool and could be fantastic, but there was a bit of a weird imbalance of puzzles. You are separated from the person you came in with and sometimes one person would be doing something while the other had nothing to do. Overall cool concept just didn’t nail the execution.
Escape the Darkest Hour - CLOSEDMission Escape GamesEscape roomIRLThe theme for the room was good and had some super cool concepts in it, but felt like some of the puzzles were a bit too hard for a group of experienced escape room players. We were paired with many random people which could’ve hurt how well we communicated, so it’s possible it would be better with a group more familiar with each other.
The Rec Room - CLOSEDEscape the Room - DetroitEscape roomIRLCool idea, but the implementation just wasn’t there. One puzzle was so hard to actually do that they ended up just having to give it to us because we knew what we were trying to do, but couldn’t complete it.
Ghost LightMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLThe puzzles for the room were very cohesive and flowed very well. All of the puzzles made sense and mostly were able to be followed in a pretty linear path. They did a good job with the set design, but it isn’t the most immersive room and I would say that at times the plot of what we were supposed to be doing wasn’t super clear. It felt more of a room where you are doing the puzzles independently from the story. However, the puzzles were still good enough and there was enough wow moments to make it a good room.
PlaygroundThe Escape Game - NYC MidtownEscape roomIRLSuper unique theme and some really cool puzzles to the room. My only criticism is that they allow for too many people in the room, which means that you often get put with random people (unless you book out the entire room, which is pretty costly for the number of people allowed in this room). It felt like for the most part there were things for everyone to do, but occasionally with that many people it felt like a bit of standing around. Would be a great room with a lesser number of people. Super similar to the Rugrat’s room that they also have in other locations so I would not recommend doing both.
Prison BreakThe Escape Game - NYC MidtownEscape roomIRLReally loved this room. Such a cool concept, the immersion is great, the puzzles are great, and it gives you an experience you won’t get at a lot of escape room places.
