Elevator to HellBrainXcape Escape Room NYCEscape roomIRLMade great use of a small space packed with clues and puzzles. However, like other BrainXcape rooms (especially Haunted Hotel), many of the puzzles required giant leaps in logic. Even with 5 experienced escape roomers (the max capacity), we still weren’t able to escape. The puzzles also flowed nearly linearly, so 3-4 of us were often just standing in the room watching 1-2 of us work on a puzzle. Lastly, the small room was almost unbearably hot and we all walked out of it absolutely drenched in sweat. Ventilation absolutely needs to be improved in the room. BrainXcape rooms all seem to be strong with set design and atmosphere, but their puzzles all need to be reconfigured to be more logical.
The Pirate’s HeartBrainXcape Escape Room NYCEscape roomIRLOnce again, BrainXcspe has beautiful and detailed set and scenic design but very bad puzzling. Nonsensical clues, red herrings, and unclear solutions make for an extremely un-fun experience. We spent well over half of our time just on the first few puzzles of the room. After those, we honestly just wanted the room to be over — and I’ve never had that feeling in an escape room before. The GMs here are always wonderful and do their best to elevate the experience, but after now doing every room at this location, I can safely say we won’t be back for any new rooms and cannot recommend them to others.
