Curse of the Hidden TempleExpedition EscapeEscape roomIRLFrom the moment your GM says hi you are fully immersed in the story line right from there. We were very fortunate to have Skylar, one of the owners, be our game master for our adventure. We have played the other games there and this is on the same level as Blind Tiger (personally I liked Blind Tiger a bit more). The technology is great in this room as there are no traditional lock and key or combo locks in the room. We stumbled on maybe two or so parts but and only needed one clue. We finished early so we had some time to talk with Skylar about the room, the tech behind it, an up and coming room and other escape rooms in the area that he suggested. You can tell that himself and his team are VERY proud of not only this room but all of their rooms and what they have built.
Escape The 1980sEscape The 1980sEscape roomIRLI played this back at the original location on Passyunk and it was a blast. I really miss Steel Owl and their awesome rooms like the ones they did at the Franklin Institute. If the folks at Steel Owl read this, please come back to the Philly area as the choice in escape rooms in Center City are slim to none and not as good as you guys.

Wednesday: Eve of the OutcastsNetflix House - PhiladelphiaEscape roomOther If you are a fan of Wednesday this experience is for you. Please note this is NOT AN ESCAPE ROOM! There is an element of an interactive mystery you can complete and you might earn a “reward” if completed. You will have enough tokens per person to play each game at least once but if you interact with the crew you might get some extra tokens. The storyline was awesome, the beginning was fantastic and sets the mood. One thing I would like is something physical to take home with you besides the fortune or if you are lucky to win a stuffed animal from the claw. Also the little “cafe cart” is a total ripoff and don’t buy anything from there, $10 for a boba lemonade with no boba in it isn’t worth it.
One Piece: Quest for the Devil FruitNetflix House - PhiladelphiaEscape roomOther I’m going to echo the other reviews, this isn’t an escape room, it’s more of an adventure experience. Hate to say it but there is a reason why it’s leaving and being switched out for Stranger Things. I really enjoyed the story and some of the aspects, oh and the staff were fantastic. Honestly it felt like a 5Wits room but at least with 5Wits you can potentially lose the room and have to do it again, this felt very hand held at points to make sure you figured it out. The replay ability just isn’t there, for fans of the show it’s definitely a to-do while it’s still here. Also I hope when Stranger Things comes in, they figure out how to soundproof better in between the rooms. I heard other rooms bleeding into each other and found it distracting at time. It really takes you out of the story of the room. I really think Netflix can produce an actual escape room for Netflix House and truly makes it an escape room where you can win or lose. Plus you get a picture at the end which was a nice souvenir.
