Background story: You and your friends were camping in a remote forest to enjoy the quiet of being away from civilization. One evening while you were chatting after supper you got a radio broadcast message thru your walkie-talkie. "If anyone can hear me, we have a malfunctioning transformation station in your area that needs your help, please respond!" The woman on the radio said. You responded to the call and started a conversation with the woman and was told that they were looking for volunteers in the area to assist them to resolve the issue, which should be as easy as turning off a switch. You also figured that the coordinate of the station was just a few kilometers away. It's weird as you were really far away from the grid and why was there a transformer station so close to you. Although there were questions to be asked, you decided to go. There was nothing to lose for a short hike after a meal...

The Bunker was the second room we played at Revo, and it was even more thrilling than The Lab. Something about it felt more like a video game than the other Revo rooms…it reminded me of Metal Gear Solid, but without the action. We even had a “handler.” But If you’re looking for traditional puzzles, this room might not scratch the itch for you: similar to The Lab, we had to use or fashion tools to complete various tasks, as well as do some light computer “hacking.” It’s very realistic problem solving, with no escape room logic whatsoever. Pre- and post-game videos do a lot to enrich the narrative, which was surprisingly poignant. The space itself was a very realistic, sprawling bunker, and entering each new room was a satisfying challenge. Similar to the other Revo rooms, there are points given based of the players’ level of success. We did really great right up until the end, which brings me to my only criticism of this game: The room’s final task was frustratingly difficult, since the GM dialed up the difficulty to the highest level. It was a cool mechanic, but pushed to the point of not being fun. We probably wasted about a quarter of our time just on this task. The rest of the experience was really fun and engaging however, and still 100% worth it.

Different from typical escape rooms and feels like you’re actually trying to explore and escape an actual situation. Required some physicality. Definitely worth trying if you’re looking for a more unique escape room.

Rating: 4.5/5 - Most realistic feeling bunker scenarios I've played, felt like MacGyver Pros: ➕The puzzles/challenges here makes you feel like MacGyver. The style is incredibly unique and everything is mimetic and fits the universe of the game. You will not do anything that you wouldn't do if that situation was real, no escape room logic. ➕The "hacking" feels the most realistic I've seen so far in an escape room. ➕The bunker set is very convincing with lots of concrete, real metal doors, and working equipment. The layout makes it feel bigger than it actually is. ➕Some adjustability in the difficulty level with an optional secondary objective. You don't miss much if you skip the secondary. ➕Creative use of objects and multiple variations to solve specific challenges ➕Challenges require teamwork and dexterity ➕Interesting narrative with characters and twists that ties all the challenges together, they explain the story at the end if you didn't figure out what happened. ➕Nice ending video that shows you alternative methods you could've used. ➕Lots of tech, no traditional combo padlocks ➕The GM was friendly and helpful as needed Cons: ➖Less physically demanding than Tomb and Lab (but still more than most rooms), I prefer more physicality. ➖The last puzzle feels brutally difficult (on the harder mode) requiring good communication, timing, and reading/searching. Even though we knew what to do, we got stuck on it and needed an extra 10 min to finish the game just because of that one puzzle. The GM can make the puzzle easier if needed, so don't be afraid to ask. ➖This puzzle style can be very challenging or frustrating if your team doesn't have the right mindset (you need strong spacial awareness, creative use of objects). If you play escape rooms for traditional puzzles, this room is not for you. ➖Too many objects with the green tape meaning they aren't part of the game or labels giving you hints/info that aren't in-universe. Though without the tape, it was hard to know what objects to use or not. ➖The dummies/mannequins they used were too unrealistic. We played as a team of 3 enthusiasts on the 80 min full experience and needed an extra 10 min just because we got stuck on a single challenge, we didn't even finish the secondary objective. I'd recommend 3-4 players. Some climbing, minor agility and dexterity may be required. My ranking of the 3 rooms here starting with my favorite: 1. The Tomb (by far the coolest room here) 2. The Lab 3. The Bunker

Great room! 8.5-9/10, definitely not like other escape rooms so you kind of have to think a bit differently, more like a room that you’re actually escaping from- lots of physical kind of puzzles, cool technology which all worked, good guidance for what you should be working on. Good immersion and set design!

This room certainly lives up to Revo Escape’s reputation of designing puzzles that are non-traditional. The experience rewards creative thinking and I loved the “eureka” moments for some of the solves. I do feel like it is quite easy to get stuck though and I feel like it may be possible for less experienced players to get fully blocked in terms of progression.

Gameplay

The solutions for some of the puzzles sound so crazy on paper but when you manage to make it work it feels amazing. However, not every puzzle delivers the same feeling of satisfaction

Atmosphere

The set design was not too surprising but the props and tools used in the room are extremely unique

Customer service

The host did his job but didn’t seem especially interested in enhancing the experience or engaging with our group beyond what was necessary

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

This experience is less “solving puzzles to escape” and more “problem solving with the tools you’re given”

The story setup is interesting enough, a lot of lore can be missed if players are not attentive

Room was really well made. Involved some puzzles that really had to make us think outside the box and just as they promised used solutions that felt more like stuff you would do in the real world! There was a bit of a disconnect with some of the puzzles, partly could have been cause I was a large group but sometimes it was hard to tell if we were getting pushed along or if we had actually solved something. Overall very well made and had very unique puzzles, truly felt like you are in a bunker :)

Gameplay

Unbeknownst to us they have us a few extra minutes at the end to finish the good ending!

I wanted to like this game, I really did but I think the puzzle design was at odds with how my brain works. That being said it’s a fun challenge with some great elements. It just wasn’t fully my vibe.

Gameplay

I didn’t love to flow to be honest but I don’t think my brain works in the right flow for the game.

Absolutely an incredible and memorable experience! This room is very unique and could be considered a class of its own. You really have to think outside of the box with this one as the puzzles are purely logical based. Which means, there's nothing like colored numbers or text that serve as an "input" to something, or finding random symbols that somehow correspond to a sequence. No, this is something where you'll believe that you're in a real situation with your imagination on what is possible to do in your environment being your best tool to escape. Phenomenal room!!
