If you’re in need of an escape room fix, but can’t make it to an actual live escape room, or have no one to go with, then these online games will give you the fix you need. They are not equivalent to an escape room, but the puzzles and linear tracking are similar to what you do in an escape room. I was hoping for an actual room to navigate, which this company does offer, but not for this particular game. So maybe I’ll try that version out. Either way this online escape game was challenging and fun, I completed it with a friend, we bought 2 and he did it on his laptop and I did mines on my iPad, as just worked together to solve the puzzles, each entering the info on our own game. So it kind of does give you that escape room partner/friend feel doing it that way, but we were in two different locations. We did it over FaceTime. I don’t think that we would do it again, simply because now that we now exactly what it is and how it works, there are way too many free puzzle games or even escape room games in the App Store to do, we don’t need to buy this for that purpose. For the actual live escape room option then yes, but this version no. Was it ok?… yes. Worth the $10 each? ….. no.

This game really teeters the line of thumbs up and thumbs down, yet another example of Morty’s need for a meh button. I have played a lot of virtual escape rooms and this just…doesn’t do it. It isn’t bad. But it doesn’t do anything special, anything new, and the things it does that others have done before it, it doesn’t do as well. If the game included more physical elements as it initially advertised it does, it may have been better, but in its current state it’s just…bland. If you want online escape rooms, play escape simulator or Wolf Games’ stuff. Hopefully the other two chapters are better, but right now, it isn’t really worth it.

My wife and I completed this and just kinda sat in silence... we completed it unimpressed and not particularly wanting to continue this saga. For the potential of the medium presented, it takes advantage of none of it. There is a real opportunity, with no time limits, to build out the lore and make the documents more explorable and real-world logic based. Instead, we're deciphering a fourth-grader's science paper for a clue that would absolutely have not been planted by a fourth grader. I suppose it's fine, and $10 for an hour of entertainment for one or two isn't bad. But honestly, there's better options out there.

I really enjoyed this play-at-home online game from The Escape Game! It's only the 1st part out of 3, but it feels like a complete game. Took us over an hour to complete. It's a smart design. Although it's structured like an escape room with different puzzles you can solve that give you clues to complete later puzzles, it's actually presented like a detective's computer database. Instead of standard puzzle clues, you get evidence, recordings, and documents. And it's all easily accessible through easy-to-navigate computer tabs. There are even some surprises that I wasn't expecting! I love mysteries and sleuthing, so disguising an escape room as well-themed detective work was great brain stimulation. I luckily got this game for free through some smart marketing by the game's company. And after finishing this one, I am looking forward to playing the rest!

My group completed this during the Covid lockdown. It was a fun room to do together, especially for beginners.

The first online room I played. Interesting, but now that I have played others (and designers have had more time to innovate on the idea), not particularly memorable. A fun thing to do solo, but there are better digital experiences out there these days.
