This family-friendly, Scooby-Doo-style mystery has you attending a carnival-themed reunion down in Louisiana. Something tragic happened here decades ago. You’ll discover that out in the swamp, amid the alligators and fireflies, the past is still very much “alive”. Can you follow the clues and solve the puzzles before the clock strikes midnight? Or will you become a permanent part of history?

Our family partnered up with some family-friends to tackle this room, making us a group of 8, and even with such a large party, this room dwarfed us. This room is Massive. The most notable takeaway with this room is how incredibly non-linear it is. Everyone in the room found a way to tackle a different problem, which allowed us to be 4 minutes off the record time set by professionals. We thoroughly enjoyed this room and were really impressed with the incorporation of the technology into a room swarmed with physical puzzles. Our game master, Roy, from the second we met him, made our experience at Red Lantern immersive and thrilling. More about Roy in my Curse of the Bayou review, but thank you so much Roy!!

The atmosphere is definitely the best thing in this room. A lot of space, nice lighting, at first glance it feels like you are actually there. The puzzles are good. There are multiple linear pathways, so you can easily split up and everybody does one thing, if that's something you like to do. If you are quick you might be able to do all the puzzles together.

Loved the Bayou theme, this was a good room for larger groups due to the size and number of puzzles to solve. Interesting use of some tech. Don't let size of the room fool you, its big but easily doable with 4 people.

I think its doable with 4, but maybe not enough puzzles per person for extremely large groups, even with it being a large room

A really fun room! I would highly recommend it to anyone that likes interactive puzzles. The room starts linear but then completely opens up to become non-linear, which ramps up the difficulty a bit. Nonetheless, the room was great and very immersive!

Gameplay

A very non-linear room, so it can be a little difficult to track which parts connect to different puzzles but overall once you get the ball rolling, everything starts falling into place

Atmosphere

Probably one of the most immersive rooms I’ve been experienced! Everything about the room truly makes you feel like you’re outside

Customer service

Extremely friendly staff and very personable!

This room is one of the best for large groups since you can tackle multiple puzzles at the same time and has accommodating space. The puzzles were fun and rewarding but the environment and atmosphere could have been a bit more immersive. A solid 3.5/5; not necessarily my favorite room but not terrible either.

I admit, this was another non-scary escape room that I thoroughly enjoyed! What made this escape room unique was that it utilized the entire space, the puzzles were hidden within the set design, and the Game Master was physically present within the escape room as well. I played this escape room before the COVID-19 Pandemic, so there was a live actor (the Game Master) who played the Magician which just added to the immersive experience. He was a lot of fun, had a great sense of humor, and he was very knowledgeable. He didn’t give away hints unless he saw that we were desperately struggling, which we were at certain points haha. Out of the two escape rooms at Red Lantern Escape, Midnight on the Bayou was BY FAR the best one here!

Experienced escapists will breeze through this one but it’s very cute. Nothing really bad to say about it.

There's a lot of space and the decor initially makes it look like it's going to be a good room. However, as you play through, the puzzles aren't challenging, the decor isn't utilized well, and the space is best used to stand around. Half of our group was just hanging out as if we were actually at a reunion.
