So GM was cool, the building was eerie and cool, but the problem was that there was no air conditioning. With the rooms being laid out as is, it was difficult to be there in the middle of June. Also, there were barely any puzzles to solve even though it was a big space. Lots of "set design" and not enough puzzles.

The best thing about this room was the atmosphere. It's inside a haunted house and takes full advantage of the location. Theme, room design, and props were all top notch. That said, the puzzles were on the easy side and we finished up very quickly.

Room needed more puzzles. We got out way too soon. Definitely could use 2-3 more puzzles. Not very difficult.

Enjoyed it and didn’t use any clues. Large well lit space which was nice. Several red herrings and mostly mechanical challenges. I would have loved some logic, word or other puzzles peppered on.

Great room! Challenging, and good thought into the puzzles overall.

The Beast is a sprawling building in an industrial warehouse district of KC. I’m not from the area, but I remember it being rather surrounded by factory/highway. They’re known for haunted houses—which I’ve never been to—and have parlayed those skills into immersive, well designed escape rooms. The Tool Room is, as promised, a room full of tools. The design leans on some already existing elements of an old factory and cleverly leverages the machinery into the game. The flow of the puzzles was logical and generally well intertwined with the story and theme. We escaped, but it definitely required some nudges from the game master and some face palming when we missed a couple things. The ending sort of came out of nowhere for us, even though were was a build up to a moment of tension and release. Either way, I would recommend checking this one out for it’s unique theme, set, and well integrated puzzles.
