Dracula

I don’t know how to explain this other than it just not feeling like it was made by people who loved escape rooms and instead felt like it was made by people who wanted to profit off people who love escape rooms. It was just quite mid.

After playing a truly terrible Dracula themed room a few years ago, I went into this one ready to be hurt again, but instead I was surprised to find a classic, well put together room. Delicious redemption, thanks Cloud9. I’d say across all of the rooms here, I’ve found Cloud9’s strongest asset to be their set design. It’s already cool enough to play every room here deep underground, but pair this with long concrete hallways, authentic props and on-theme puzzles and you’ve got a winner. Still not a difficult room overall but enough attention to detail is required to give less experienced players a good 40+ minute game. The Achilles heel of this room however is how it starts, a super quiet audio message from Dracula himself to set the scene which also includes a spoken riddle as the first puzzle. While it was already difficult enough to hear in a small room occupied by 4 people, there is no way to actually replay this audio or be clued in to the fact that this dialogue is super relevant for the first solve. A simple heads up from the GM or option to replay the message would be such an easy fix. Spooky room, cool room, bloody room. 7.2/10 🔏🧩

The Nightman cometh. A spooky little Dracula themed room down in the basement of Cloud9, the cold and musty environment really enhances the Transylvanian castle aesthetic. Pretty straightforward in terms of puzzles, all of them fit well within the theme and felt pretty intuitive. The initial puzzle is based on the introduction audio which is rather quiet which led to us being stuck for around the first 8-10 mins with no idea what to do. A pre-warning from the GM to listen carefully or a louder audio would be a quick fix for this one. A pretty fun and spooky time, far better than previous Dracula rooms I've played.

We breezed through this one - good set, atmospheric. Not a super hard one, but good fun
