The spooky, scientific manor atmosphere was cool. But the puzzles in the initial room actually let us know what we had unlocked when it didn't in the other areas. We spend a lot of time not knowing what to do next because there was no signal for things we had revealed/unlocked/opened. We thought we were literally breaking some of the puzzles to make them work. Poor vision and things lighting up very dimly were very frustrating. Had high hopes but was overall disappointed.

Gameplay

Loved the theming but the puzzles didn't make sense for us. When we unlocked things it was very inconsistent on letting us know they had opened or unlocked. Things didn't flow well.

I’ve completed 250+ rooms and I have no clue how this room was nominated for ANY awards! It was TERRIBLE! The clues were ridiculous and hidden in places you would never find them unless you ask for clues. The game doesn’t flow at all. It’s all over the place. The game set is WORN out to say the least. Most things don’t work and the other half doesn’t make sense. For being such an immersive room it’s a HUGE let down on the game play. I always complete every game at each establishment when I travel and this is one I will not be completing.

I enjoyed the room overall but some of the issues didn’t allow for the gameplay to flow thoroughly. I talked to the game master about it so hopefully these things will not happen in further games. Some of these puzzles throughout the room were really cool.

Rating: 3.5/5 - Aesthetically cool set but lots of wear and tear Pros: ➕Set is visually appealing, it is decorated floor to ceiling with lots of details and props. ➕High immersion, it's atmospheric with audio and visual effects ➕Layout of the set is unique, multiple areas to explore and some interesting elevation change ➕There was a nice variety of puzzles including some physical/tactile interactions. ➕Climactic ending ➕A lot tech with some padlocks mixed in ➕GM was friendly and helpful Cons: ➖The game needs TLC, lots of visible wear and broken props ➖Finicky tech that didn't always trigger correctly ➖One visible lock was disabled because it wasn't working ➖Some puzzles were not intuitive and we felt like we needed more help than usual. One interaction is basically impossible to figure out without info from the GM because it requires force. ➖Room was too dark with no flashlights provided. Though you can use your phone's light. Game is a spooky but not scary, no jump scares. I'd recommend a smaller team of 2-3 enthusiasts just because there are some tight spaces, but you may want 3-4 due to the difficulty of the puzzles. Some crawling is required for one player and you may need to go up and down some tight stairs.

This room is so cool to look at. The props and set were so neat. The ending was worth playing the game for but i didnt feel like it flowed well. There weren’t indicators for when you were doing things right or wrong. Lots of instructions have to be given over the hint screen- i feel like these sorts of instructions should be more organic or easier to figure out yourself. Overall if you’re a set design person over a puzzle person this game is absolutely for you.

This game included some physical challenges that I wish had been made more clear in the booking. While I didn’t particularly enjoy the puzzles much, the design of the room was immersive and I could see how someone would enjoy it.

Overall rating - 9.0/10 Puzzles - 9 Gameplay - 8.5 Atmosphere - 9 Experience - 10 For a breakdown of my weighted rating system you can refer to my bio. Very fun room with great set design. The only thing I'd mention is this room is not handicap accessible. I would not consider it a spoiler because it says it on the website but there is crawling and tight spaces. We thought the puzzles and flow of the room was great, though some of the puzzles it was difficult to tell when you had completed them and something had opened.

We loved the styling of the room. We liked our GM. But our GM had only been there for 4 days and had only done this room once…it wasn’t great. Parts malfunctioned and took multiple tries, we worked on other parts/solutions thinking we were wrong, when really we just had to use significantly more force than we expected. The GM sent clues telling us to stop working on things that we needed to be working on, and overall there were just a lot of bad directions, which isn't the fault of the GM, they had no experience with this room. One part was broken and we spent 15 minutes and multiple clues, but the clues we were given were all things we’d already solved. Turns out it just needed to be unlocked by the GM manually. There were several components to this room that needed to be manually handled by the GM, which is new to me. Understandably, the GM couldn’t answer questions about the room. This is also the first time anyone has popped in during the story video and told us that looking around will be penalized, so that was interesting. The staff here wasn't exactly unfriendly, they were just unhelpful. When we walked in (5 minutes before our room time, with waivers already completed) we were told we were late, and nothing else. It was jokingly, but still, odd to have no other information. After this room we had Pharaoh, but mentioned the issues to who is presumably the GM. He just said, essentially, oh well, that happens, you'll like the next one more. And then everyone walked away until the GM for our next game came out a few minutes later. Pharaoh is cool, and this room is too, but the staff needs to be familiar with the rooms and be a little kinder. It's odd to me that they know there are issues with that room and don't prep the GMs, fix it, offer to make it right, give time back for time wasted on broken elements, etc.

Staff was new and didn’t know the room, staff also told us we’d be penalized for looking around during the video, but didn’t say so before the video started.

Medical stuff and gore, so if you’re sensitive to that it goes up. For me this was more than scary, my partner says spooky.

Was anything broken?

Yes

We lost 15 minutes to a broken part, several things didn’t work well and needed a lot of force, but the GM didn’t tell us that so we wasted time working on alternatives thinking we had the answers wrong. The GM had to manually do a lot of the controls since they didn’t work, but was new so they missed a few for a while.

Not, it’s dark and cramped. Also, a whole section has low ceilings, so you hit your head a lot if you’re not careful. It’s padded though; so it didn’t hurt.
