The Tree of Life is dying, and only you can save it! Fantasy, whimsy, and a little bit of drama await both first-time players and experienced enthusiasts in Magic Kingdom Escape Room, which is a medium difficulty escape room game in Koreatown, LA that offers a spellbinding adventure to captivate both children and adults. You and your friends have been transported to an otherworldly land known as the Magic Kingdom, where a mysterious curse threatens the ancient Tree of Life! Sitting for eons at the heart of the Enchanted Forest, the Tree of Life is the source of all the magic in the world. While old and powerful, the tree isn’t immortal – its roots are nourished by the elemental water from a magic wishing well near the tree. Alas, an evil magic from an unknown source has descended upon the Magic Kingdom Escape Room, cursing the wishing well and causing the elemental water to run dry! You and your band of magicians are the only ones with the power to end the curse and save the tree before it withers away – but you only have one hour to do it! After 60 minutes, the tree will fade away, and the Magic Kingdom will be lost! Get ready to embrace your inner child, and work together to recover the three elemental wands whose power you’ll need to save the tree. Along the way, you’ll enlist the help of a colorful cast of magical creatures, including fairies, a jackalope, and a talking mouse who will guide you in your quest. Who knows, maybe the friendly giant will even wake up long enough to lend a hand! Located in the heart of Koreatown, Maze Rooms on S. Vermont offers some of the most exciting escape room experiences in Los Angeles. We’re on the forefront of the latest generation of escape games – each of our 60-minute adventures interweave technology and practical design elements into both our puzzles and storytelling to create immersive experiences for any occasion. Whether you’re looking to host a birthday party, a team-building event for your company, or just something fun to do with friends or family, our games have something for everyone!

Magic Kingdom pretty much sums up how I feel about Maze Rooms as a whole. They come up with some genuinely creative concepts, but the execution doesn't always live up to the idea. During our game, the tech stopped working, and several of the props looked noticeably worn and could definitely use some refreshing. That said, I did enjoy the storytelling. The room weaved its lore into the puzzles well, and we encountered giants, fairies, and gnomes along the way, which helped bring the fantasy theme to life. Our game master was warm and friendly, and while it sometimes took a little longer than expected to receive a nudge, she was helpful whenever we needed guidance. The puzzle flow is linear, though a few of the puzzles required some leaps in logic. Feedback also wasn't always obvious. There were a couple of moments where we entered the correct code, assumed nothing had happened, and only realized later that something had opened on the opposite side of the room. My biggest piece of advice is to be patient and pay close attention to your surroundings. You may have solved the puzzle without realizing it.

Game was fun and whimsy, but most of the puzzles are built into the atmosphere of the room itself. While this makes the gameplay more interesting and story driven, I do think that the wear and tear on these puzzles can make them a bit trickier to complete or you may have issues getting them to work in general. Our game master was absolutely wonderful! Overall, not a bad room but not really great either. I think a refurbishment would go a long way for this room.

Accessibility

There’s a few spots with mobility is needed (i.e. stairs), but it won’t take away from a majority of the puzzles. I do think that it can be a bit cramped for anyone using wheelchairs.

Cons This room is exceedingly mid. Puzzles were disjointed and there was not much logic linking it together. Some puzzle elements did not work. Tight spaces for no reason. Lighting is very bad, flashlight should be provided. Pros The host was awesome and super helpful!

I rate this escape experience a 3/5 (ck out my bio for rating system). I give the set/theme 1.5 pts. There were some very cool elements (literally! 😆) and unexpected surprises but one thing that annoys me is puzzles that are no longer part of the game, STILL in the game! I mean, how hard is it just to remove an old or outdated puzzle. I rate the actual puzzles only a half a point. There was one clue not fully reset, a broken item and one puzzle did not appropriately trigger which makes me feel like I didn't really get the full experience. Also, there was one particular puzzle that had absolutely no connection to it's counterpart and that's annoying too! If you're trying to get thru a room with no hints, this particular one would make that impossible. I give my enjoyment 1 pt. It might have gotten more had it not been for the incomplete or broken parts but still worth doing.

Not as attentive as one would hope. It took a good 5 minutes for one of them to come after we completed the game.

The room is a little bit outdated. It's an average room now, nothing really new. Our group prefers rooms with twists and not everything happening in the same place, also the plot is not very interesting. They were missing a key and not everything was working as it should.

Atmosphere

Need better sound. You can't understand what the voice says at the end, neither a key part of a puzzle.

It was a cute set with some surprises. We really enjoyed this one. Looking back, we've seen even more impressive rooms now, but this one is still solid with a decent enough magical theme. We barely escaped with under a minute to spare. I think we spent a good amount of time uncertain what we were looking for, especially early on. Not sure if it was inexperience at the time or what. Once we got to a certain point, it became clearer what we were trying to solve so it went better.

Fun room. Very whimsical with a bunch of magical creatures you get to have satisfying interactions with. I would give a little bit more background around the wands at the beginning of the room to help the users interact with them and understand that there are different rooms for each element, but other than that the room was great. Not super linear or straight forward, but still fun!

This was a cute one! There were several aspects of this that I liked, and our GM Jason was awesome! A fun moment in it too. The puzzles didn’t flow SUPER well and weren’t the most intuitive, and there wasn’t as fun of a story as I’ve encountered in other fantasy rooms. But still a good time, and definitely worth doing!
