Rating: 4/5 - Highly immersive set with lots of tech and effects
Pros:
➕The set looked fantastic and was highly immersive, it really felt like were were in an underground mine. Everything was decorated floor to ceiling and made to look appropriately grimey.
➕Multiple areas to explore, the set felt a bit claustrophobic (but in a good way which felt realistic)
➕Lots of custom made tech interactions, minimal padlocks
➕Lighting was dark but good quality flashlights were provided
➕Use of audio, scents, lighting, and special effects
➕Narrative is integrated into the puzzles and set
➕Puzzles were decent with a nice variety
➕GM was friendly and helpful when needed
Room for improvement:
➖One particular puzzle was unintuitive for us based on the digits, they should've used a different combo lock, it caused us to get stuck for a while.
➖While the ending effects were cool, I feel like the grandness of the ending sequence was a bit disappointing and too cramped. I was hoping there would be more, like a bigger reveal, but the set got less interesting as we progressed.
I'd recommend a team of 2-3 enthusiasts due to the cramped spaces. We played as a team 2 and finished with plenty of time left. There is no crawling or climbing required.
Update: My ranking of the 4 rooms I played here starting with my favorite:
1. Welcome to the Machine ❤️ Play this if you like a puzzle dense game requiring cooperation, no padlocks, and an exciting finale.
2. Deep Underground ❤️ Play this for the highly immersive set, effects, and tech.
3. Sins if Faustus❤️ Play this for the narrative and theatrics
4. Barnyard Winds 👍This room has lower immersion but is better for beginners and families
