Allan Poe – “The Gold-Bug”

There were some fun aspects and it was cool how it incorporated lots of references to Edgar Allan Poe's the Gold Bug. Admittedly, this was my own fault, but I thought there would be more references to Poe himself rather than just the story. There were a couple time sink puzzles, as well as a puzzle that wasn't working right. We were told that this was their hardest room, and we still made it out with 17 minutes to spare... Even with us wasting a lot of time on a couple puzzles. Overall, cool theme idea, but the puzzles could use a little tweaking.

This game was fine. Good but not great. Fun but not mind-blowing. My positive rating is more about my personal experience, being with friends who were doing an escape room for the first time.

We loved this room! Excellent staff, good flow, fun elements and puzzles, exciting room transitions. The puzzles were clever and it was all very do-able as an experienced player.

I felt like there were no instructions. There was an extensive translation in room 1 that was useless text until room 3. I spent nearly 1/3 of the time translating it and it had nothing to do with the room I was in, I was honestly too frustrated to even focus on anything else. This room in particular I think played to my partners and my weakness, it had a lot of darkness, no flashlight rules, and sound repetition and was difficult for us.

This room has some fun puzzles, but other ones made me want to rip my hair out. My eyes still hurt from one of them. The game master was very friendly and kind, but the rooms need a refresh.
