This is the best escape room I have ever played. From the immersion, to the creative puzzles, to the game master, I was blown away. The game flowed so well. As someone who has played a lot of escape rooms, I typically think harder games would require me to ask for more clues due to weird leaps in logic. This game however, made perfect sense. One puzzle was frustrating but had us jumping for joy once we figured it out. I am blown away! I am in awe of how well put together it is and how much the staff likes working there. Can’t wait to come back for the next one!

Gameplay

Incredibly novel. I had never played a game with puzzles like these before. The flow made perfect sense

Atmosphere

So immersive! The lighting and ambient sound was eerie and had me on my toes the whole time!

Customer service

Kenzie was amazing! Fully in character from the second we stepped in, joking around with us before hand, and gave us a good rundown of the stats. The nudges we received were rare and perfectly timed. Afterwards, they explained how different things worked and why they loved it which always makes my experience way better.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

So many puzzles were unlike any I’ve seen before, but without being convoluted and pretentious

Story

The story progressed as we did, with the villain talking to us about how they are going to win. It was a hotel theme, so all of the elements of the room were ones you’d find in a hotel!

Difficulty

Hard

We needed 3 nudges, 2 for just one puzzle. I can see how that one puzzle could keep a group stuck for the rest of their time. Escaped with 15 minutes left, so not the most challenging. Teams with a lot of experience with escape rooms would probably do very well.

Game tech

High tech

High tech but well integrated and immersive!

Ideal number of players

3

Smallish room, fairly linear.

Scary

Scary

Very scary for a scaredy cat like myself! But not so much that it took away from the room.

Minimum age

15

Hard puzzles! Scary theme! Would recommend adults only unless you have very brave younger ones.

Was anything broken?

No

Could have been, wouldn’t have known! Everything was so immersive and seemed to have worked perfectly

Live actors

No

The game master kind of was! In character but not in the game

Physically active

Somewhat

A door that was so short that you had to bend down to walk/crouch through

Accessibility

Very dark, but with the ability to give more lighting. A puzzle that briefly has flashing lights. A crawl space (short door that you have to crouch to go through) that you have to go in and out of most likely

Easy to find location

No

There are signs posted but when going at night you can only read them when you get out of your vehicle

Parking

Medium

Big parking lot! Difficult to find the entrance after dark

Really enjoyed this one! It was pretty much the perfect difficulty for my group and we found it fun and engaging! Themed in a scary way but not jump-scary, which I would hate.

1 escape room

This was my first ever escape room and now I fear nothing will live up to this room. The atmosphere and immersion starts in the lobby with perfect decor to set the tone. The "Clerk" was so nice and wanted to make sure we understood the story before we started and built up the excitement. 303 Escape truly cares about being an authentic escape room.

Gameplay

The puzzles were challenging and very fun. One thing lead to another, so we weren't at all stumped on what to do next.

Atmosphere

The moment I saw the decor, I was very excited to get started.

Customer service

Cared about us before entering the room and after we got out they were sure to talk to us about our experience.

Overall this was a great room. The atmosphere was wonderful, the puzzles were fun, and our GM was nice. The only thing that put a damper on the experience was that there was a broken tech element towards the end which was essential to the game. We spent so much time trying to get it to work, and it wouldn’t even with our GM asking if we had done everything. It should have been manually triggered long before it was because it obviously wasn’t working. It was a disappointing end in an otherwise fantastic room.

Rating: 4/5 - Fully thematic, appropriately creepy set with a detailed storyline Pros: βž•The set looked great and was immersive with the theming starting in the lobby. βž•It looked like it could be an actual hotel room, puzzles were completely hidden until you needed them. βž•Real hotel items were used in puzzles, no object in the room felt out of place in the setting. βž•Great use of lighting, you can also turn on the house lights if it is too creepy or you need to see better βž•Very tech heavy, no padlocks, only 1 key but it fit the theme βž•A couple interesting tech interactions I've yet to see before βž•Stronger narrative than most generic serial killer rooms βž•Integrated hint system βž•More than one room to discover βž•GM was friendly and helpful when needed Room for improvement: βž–Missed opportunity for the GM to be in character at the intro and for hints (Starlight Motel at Escape Artist Greenville is amazing example of this) βž–Too many number and letter puzzles for my tastes, I'd like more variety and tactile/physical interactions βž–Too many paper notes that are used for directions/clueing. If the puzzles were a bit more intuitive then directions wouldn't be needed. βž–Would like a stronger ending, but it leads into Chapter 2 which I didn't have time to play. Room is creepy, but there are no intentional jump scares. You may get startled by a panel opening loudly. I recommend 2-3 enthusiasts, though I played this solo (paid for 2 tickets) and completed it with 8 min left with 3 hints. I wouldn't say it's an easy room, there are some tricky puzzles. Some spaces are smaller, so I would not want more than 4 players.
