I liked this locked room mystery. It reminded me of the Overlook Hotel meets the Devil in the White City. Nate said it reminded him of room 1408β¦look for the Easter Egg, folks! Absolutely, splendid. I havenβt been this immersed since touring the Bateβs Motel at Universal Studios in the 80βs!
The Game Play was fun. We needed some βnudgesβ to get is through the night (nudges are optional). Definitely brainy and interactive drawing from some favorite cult classics! We came back for Part 2 before we left town.
As a horror writer, I could live in Hotel 303, forever. Room 303 is creepy. There were times I felt I was in true danger. The atmosphere is the right mix of campy and spooky! - Kate
The staff is welcoming. We absolutely love the GM. The staff really made the experience worth repeating! We came back three nights in a row.
Particularly interesting or different
Yes
Perfect blend of murder mystery and suspense. It really made me think, βWhat if this is real? What if I donβt escape and this is all a rouse to get unsuspecting guests to sign up and consent to their own homicide?β
I loved the flow from Part 1 to Part 2.
The interactive puzzles and cryptography were a mix of easy and hard. We were able to puzzle them out together and were offered βnudgesβ on the more puzzling puzzles haha! Nate says, without the nudges he would rate this as hard.
We had 2. Nate says this was βsolid.β Iβd say 3. Six eyes are better than two, especially for Part 2. Wink wink nudge nudge Two are required to activate the puzzles in Part 2. As we were entering, we saw and spoke to a party of 6 exiting. Six would be fun in Part 1, but quite possibly claustrophobic in Part 2.
Definitely spooky although there were a few π© πmoments for Kate in Part 2. Part 1 was more eerie. Part 2 definitely had me jump scared a few times, and the escalating music added to the urgency.
I am sure there are more gruesome Escape Rooms, but the recommended age from the operator is 16. My son is into forensic science (they are 14), and I think they can handle it. Part Iβm 1 was bathroom bloody. Part 2 had true crime pictures not meant for younger viewers.
Aside from the voice in the vent or on the phone, actors were only used to guide you to your room (or back to your room- as was the case for us, we accidentally escaped into the hallway) and to run the front desk.
Physically active
Somewhat
Letβs just say, before hip surgery, I would have gotten stuck in the closet, but I am certain the staff would have let me in the second room in Part 1 from the mystery door in the hallway. They were very helpful and accommodating. There is a lot of bending and stooping, but it is not excessive or aerobic. This is more of a small, locked room mystery.
Accessibility
If you have a mobility issue or are hearing or vision impaired, I would recommend entering the escape room with a staff member who can assist you, or joining with a companion to assist. There are many visual and audio clues and a mild amount of clues that require stooping and hand grip capabilities when solving certain puzzles. I am a Special Needs Instructor, and I think this would be a fun experience for my adult students who enjoy mysteries and/or escape rooms. Please, use your discernment and communicate with the staff prior to booking. -Kate
The Uber driver dropped us off at the back of the building all three times we visited. It was sooo very creepy! At the end of the first night, we accidentally got into the vehicle of the spouse of one of the βBell Hopsβ on staff! Scared the crap out of all of us!
Lots of parking! Especially, for Uber drivers and the unsuspecting spouses of staff members, you know who you are!
