Poppet

Great use of a found space, the vibes in the final area were fantastic and the finale more than I expected. The GM's intro was great. The beginning was a little puzzle-sparse but it got better later. Puzzles made sense and were well themed. Be aware that the final task is designed for taller people (like is normal in the Netherlands). Some people on our team are short; one person could not see at all.

We weren’t sure what to expect, we are not horror fans yet we really loved this experience. Just the right level of creepiness, great set and details that we can appreciate. The two of us worked hard with such a large set and our GM was terrific. So sad that Poppet is closing in January due to construction at this amazing historic monastery. A definite highlight of our visit to the Netherlands.

What an incredible room! It’s such a shame that it will soon disappear. For us, this was by far the most enjoyable room Rock City Escape has to offer. Our game host, Riko, made the experience unforgettable. He played his role brilliantly and was also wonderful to chat with afterwards. The room itself looked stunning, with creative puzzles that were great fun to solve together. The special effects were impressive and, combined with the setting, created an eerie atmosphere that was sometimes scary, but never too overwhelming. The only minor downside for me personally was that the storyline faded into the background after a while. At the beginning, I was fully immersed in who we were as players and why things were happening. But once the game really got going, that element was somewhat lost. It was a pity, because the opening was so strong and original that I would have loved to see the concept carried all the way through. That said, this is just a tiny detail in an otherwise outstanding experience. The room is truly a gem. If you still get the chance to play it: don’t hesitate, just go for it! And once again, thank you Riko – you made the whole adventure a hundred thousand times better.

A very close second favorite game in NL after Molly's Game -- play this before it closes! The building is being demolished, and I really hope they can find another home for this. Currently a top 5 game for me, it's just pure fun. Most of the puzzles furthered the story, and all the puzzles were in theme and just fun. The actor interaction and the first puzzle (outside... even in the rain!) couldn't have been a better start to the story, teeing up an adventure with a surprising number of rooms, twisting passages, a few actorless jumpscares and some creative puzzles I hadn't seen before in over 300 rooms.

This was our favourite game of the weekend, hands down. The atmosphere was great, using the historical building. The acting was superb, and it really added to the experience (often I want introductions to wrap up in order to start the game play, but this was great). As another user mentioned, this game may close soon (due to work on the building), so don’t hesitate!

The most fun and enjoyable room of the three from Rock City escape. Good flow of puzzles, fun to resolve and well connected to the theme. Had quite a few wow moments. Cannot recommend this room enough.

One of the best rooms I have played (in 100+). Our GM was superb. The atmosphere was wonderful. The puzzles were unique and the ending was beautiful. Can't recommend this enough. Sadly they are closing it soon, so hurry up!

“Poppet” is my 2nd favorite escape room in NL out of 22 rooms. My top is “Stay in the Dark”, which many don’t consider an escape room. In that case, this would be my top escape room in NL. Sister Louise did improv with us, which elevated the experience. We prefer acting rooms, and she delivered. We’re glad we were able to visit at this time because they may have to close within a year due to the city wanting to build apartments in that location.
