It's been over a year since your friend has gone missing, however you've never stopped searching. Newly discovered photos and information has led you to the largest wetlands in south central Louisiana. Knowing that your friend is a dedicated hiker and daring explorer, all signs point to the Haddonfield Territory, a sovereign region, off the grid, at the base of the Appalachian Mountains. It's uncharted, dangerous and uninhabitable. To make matters worse, you've learned that a string of missing person cases litter the surrounding area leaving locals to believe that there's more than just the dense thicket and treacherous wildlife within. For you, the path is clear: If you want to find your friend, you must head to Louisiana and venture deep inside the Haddonfield Territory.

Im surprised this room is in the top list.. I thought it was average.. I did enjoy it but not in the same league as Welcome to the Garrett's which is at the same location.. puzzles were simple and felt routine... could have been scarier... Service was top notch and the host was super nice.

Atmosphere was great - super spooky and had moments that made me jump! Wish there were more puzzles and unique interactions- with only 3 people and a casual pace we were able to complete the room with plenty of time to spare. Nice use of tech overall, just feels a bit like they didn’t use the rooms and sets to their full potential.

A great horror game. The atmosphere is amazing, with great progression through different areas of the set, some very unexpected later on. And in each of these areas there is at least one really cool horror effect (all, to my knowledge, done without actors). Because of these unique non-actor scare elements, despite on the surface being a pretty normal murder-cabin theme, it ends up feeling very different from most other horror games. The story itself is a bit vague, (which, It is definitely unsettling because of that unknown-ness of it) but there’s one or two seemingly very story-driven scenes where even the staff didn’t really seem to understand what the story was, which left me feeling more confused then unsettled after the game ended. The game is pretty good gameplay-wise as well. There’s some very unique puzzles in how they’re themed to the environment. The gameplay is far from flawless though. There’s a lot of puzzles that rely on really small details in the set, leaving huge (and really good-looking) areas of the set completely puzzle-less, which feels like a waste. My main issue with the game is that it just really doesn’t stick out in my mind. It’s great, one of the better games in the LA area, but nothing about it really lingered in my memory after it was over (at least compared to other games I’ve played). But once again, it’s great, and if you haven’t oversaturated yourself by playing so many rooms (especially horror rooms), you shouldn’t have this issue. (Also I expected a very different game from the title, not just in tone but also in subject matter. For having such a provocative title, the title is actually somewhat inaccurate.)

Yes? But also nothing really stands out to me.

Story

This would be a heart if it were a bit more clear, but it’s so unclear even the gm couldn’t tell us what the story was.

I rate this escape experience a 3.5/5 (ck out my bio for rating system). This room was my least fave of the 3 at this location (fave is Tombstone if you are wondering). The set/theme were the best thing about it. If you've done enough serial killer escape rooms, you'll notice the set/theme starts to blur between rooms because, let's be honest, what more can you do other than bloody walls, dismembered bodies and a decapitated head floating around somewhere. Granted, this room did have the head but I did like the set more than most with this theme. You felt immersed in a Micheal Myers killer type atmosphere with jump scares around every corner (warning for those who don't like that aka, my husband, although other than the occasional yelp, he tolerated them pretty ok). 1.5 points here. Unfortunately, the puzzles left me frustrated. It was very similar to their Garrett's room - the puzzles were not intuitive so required many hints. In addition, there were quite a few things that didn't really work, i.e, a door lock, a sensor, a can opener. And in one room, the light was so dim that if I hadn't had my trusty watch flashlight, we wouldn't have seen what we needed to see. The GM told us later that one of the lights had not been working. 🤦‍♀️ We wasted some time on these malfunctioning parts and it's a little annoying that the GM didn't recognize our struggle and step in with a suggestion. The working puzzles were about average so I'm giving the puzzle category 1 point. Because of the poor flow due to lack of intuitiveness, I give my enjoyment 1 point. Wasn't my fave but the set/theme made it worth doing.

Something’s Out There was good- nothing more, nothing less. It is a horror-ish (I’m a weenie and it was maybe a 4/10) room that succeeds in immersion but lacks follow through in puzzle density, story cohesion, and length. Our group of 4 finished in just over half the time. This is a good room for those topping their toes into horror. You have the security of no live actor (it is effective in creating the sense of not being alone) but the mild jump scares, scenery, and effects that many horror rooms have. The lowest point of this experience was our gm. We were rushed in and out and it was clear that they weren’t interested in being there.

Gameplay

This is a linear, experience driven room and thrives less in the puzzles (some are really fun, clever, and effective) but succeeds in immersion and ambiance. Overall, it felt short for what it was and the story sort of lost its bearings in the latter half. Our group of four finished in just over half the allotted time and weren’t fully sure of what the conclusion was trying to imply.

Atmosphere

Excellent. The first space “outdoors” is killer, it is immersive, spooky, and a good tone setter. The other spaces follow suit and the design keeps the immersion.

Customer service

Our game master rushed us in and out, didn’t offer any time to see if we had questions about the story or puzzles and literally walked out of the room before we had left the lobby. I think it was the most terse experience and onboarding I’ve had in an escape room.

Ideal number of players

3-4. This room is totally doable with 2 but probably is its most fun with more folks to enjoy the experience.

This was probably the spookiest room we’ve ever done and it was a lot of fun. Atmosphere is very immersive, a bunch of fun jump scares and creepy props, but it’s not gory or over the top. The puzzles were the right level of difficulty, but there were definitely things that were not at all obvious that we needed a hint for, which added a nice level of complexity. There were a few things that needed to be pushed down a little more to trigger the sensors. Otherwise, a very creepy and fun experience! Our GM was very nice and prodded us along when we needed it.

Gameplay did not flow well. Ending was unsatisfying. It did not feel like an ending more like just another event. Puzzles make you run around wasting time. A lot of decoy props. There were also 2 malfunctions during our game. Atmosphere was Amazing. Very immersive. Game master seemed annoyed at times. Didn’t look happy to be there. She also kept changing the time we had left. Also when asking for a hint she just told us the solution. Also, was not proactive at giving hints when falling behind despite asking at the beginning. Room was Spooky. Not scary.

The atmosphere of this game was top notch! So immersive! It felt as if you were truly outside when you first enter the room. We took a little bit to get started, but once we did, the flow between puzzles was really smooth. We had no problems solving the room with three people and only struggled on the final puzzle. Probably our favorite set design of the three rooms at this location (though it’s stiff competition). All of the puzzles were unique and non-conventional. There was only one key used in the room, but its use fit the theme perfectly.
