Chapter 3: The Morgue

We did rooms 1-3 all in one playthrough. The continuation of characters through the stories was an amusing bonus. This room was a very different experience than most others since it is more of a score at the end which created lots of amusing arguing among our team about what our points should be traded for. They made some fun decisions to force the team to divide up multiple times during gameplay. Overall, totally worth it to play all the games in sequence at Off The Couch games.

Off the Couch is World Class. We did all 3 rooms in the same day and played them in order. Simply put, this is an experience you will never forget. Every Room has unique puzzles and elements I’ve never seen before. I’ve done over 115 rooms and counting. The interaction you have with each story creates a world of immersion that is top tier. You can feel the amount of care, passion, and thought that went into building these rooms. These are longer rooms which is worth every moment you are in them. If there is only 1 company that you have an option to do a room in in the Bay Area it is off the couch. Everyone person that I interacted with were extremely friendly and helpful. Games masters have an awesome way of communicating based on which room you are doing.

This was one we were scared about doing since we typically don’t love scary rooms. But the puzzles and story were so fun and challenging it made the fright worth it! We loved our GM Jo and they made our experience top tier. It was definitely one of the more challenging rooms we’ve done and the mechanics were different in a fresh way that kept us on our toes. This place is special and we can’t wait for chapter 4!

Great game! Really interesting puzzles! Really great interactions. Definitely on the scarier side. But very cool and original.

My favorite of the three OTC rooms, probably because it really just runs with the theme in all it's strange, campy glory. I didn't realize this was going to be a scary room going into it (although obviously the name is a bit of a clue), which is probably for the best. I had a very good time (except for one sequence, this room is far less scary then, say, Cornstalkers) and our NPC made things very fun. I really loved the bonus challenges and I kind of wished we had ordered some snacks, just to see how that worked. What a fun experience (special thanks to our GM, who was fantastic - we loved the tour of everything afterwards)!

This is definitely the scariest room they have. It's not really creepy but you definitely need one brave person at least in your group. This isn't a spoiler since it's revealed during the intro but it does take on a game show esqe method of solving, which definitely was cool and added an interesting layer. But it does really cause that rush when you don't know why points are necessarily being deducted from you. There's nothing too gorey about the room and has more an overt scare tactic vibe. If you have any phobias I would highly recommend mentioning it to your GM. Some puzzles it was hard to tell if you solved them or solved them correctly compared to the previous room, but I would say the puzzles were very interesting and I enjoyed them. Will definitely come back once they build out more rooms!

Again, an absolutely amazing experience. This one was my personal favorite of the three available chapters (my mom liked the first one the most!). There was a perfect balance between challenge/difficulty while still continuously progressing, opportunities to split up, and a unique game design/point system that was really fun and well implemented. Certainly a very unique room with a lot of love and effort put in. This narrative “chapter”-style game is phenomenal and carefully crafted to provide a mix between an escape room, a video game, and a choose your own adventure book. Shoutout to our lovely GM Ken, as well as Jo who helped out and the owner Nick, who is super nice and extremely passionate! Be warned for spooky/scary atmosphere, a live actor, and lots of gore.

I loved the creativity in this room -- the set, the unusual style of puzzles, the non-mainroom structure, the narrative, and the cashback structure. I enjoyed the high parallelism -- 6 people was a great number for this room.

Phenomenal room!!! A must do. Great set design, fantastic sensory experience, and off the charts creative.

I am awful at anything scary, but I already completed 2 previous chapters so I felt like I needed to do The Morgue for the sake of the story. Despite my fear, I found this game really fun! You have the option to have a more or less scary experience, and if you go in a group it is definitely possible to have some members have a scary experience while others less so.
