The DeLaporte Family coffers have run dry and the city is threatening to put the house up for a tax sale. You are called to investigate the dark and cramped wine cellar, as it was rumored that Silver Dollar Sam and his band of rum runners once used it as a storehouse. Can you find enough loot to help save the DeLaporte home, or will you be stuck forever by one of the many booby traps?

Overall, this was a fun room. It was our first dark room experience so we went in with an open mind and were pleasantly surprised with the puzzles. They were very easy and straightforward if you had light, but the lack of light made it a new experience. Communication is a must. I felt that there could’ve been more in terms of decoration or puzzle- we finished comfortably. The GM was amazing and stayed in character. Things that would’ve affected immersion were dealt with humorously. Would recommend but wouldn’t go out of my way for if I’m not in NOLA.

Loved this room. When I was reading the reviews, I was under the impression that the experience would be in half darkness, and half light. After having done this room now, I would say that it's more 80-20. To escape successfully, you would need to communicate! Ideal number of players is 4-5. This room feels different than the other rooms I've done with Esape My Room and could thematically be a stand alone. Nevertheless, the puzzles were not too hard. The difficulty increases because of how dark the rooms are!

An incredible room with fantastic dark props. Laszlo was an absolute delight!

Loved this one! Majority of this room is done in complete darkness and it’s quite a unique experience! Our game master Laszlo was top notch too - made the whole experience amazing!

Fantastic 45min room! The theming of the entire building is well done. We saw some different clues and puzzles and being in the dark amps everything up a notch. Definitely recommend to seasoned escapers!

We typically shy away from rooms that have low light or are dim. However, the 2nd part of this one is completely pitch black… you have to rely on feeling around and communicating verbally with your team. Very neat concept.

Loved playing an escape room in the dark, I was a 45 min room and I wished it was longer.

Unique experience playing a room in pitch darkness. Very tactile, and demands communication with teammates. If you have time, grab a sandwich around the corner at St James Cheese Company - they were delicious.

I did Smuggler's Den, Inventor's Attic, and Jazz Parlor. They were my 71, 72, and 73rd escape rooms, respectively. I can't say these were the best rooms I have ever done (that honor belongs to a room in Amsterdam), but they were pretty close. They are definitely must-do's if you are an enthusiast and live in the United States. The thing Escape My Room does better than any other room is create an atmosphere where everything fits together as part of a broader story. From how you enter, to what you do in the sitting room while you wait, to orientation, to the walk to the room, to the room itself, and the photos at the end--everything flowed seamlessly. It's as immersive as it gets. The rooms themselves were almost flawless. There was very little I would do differently, and even those would come down to preference and not necessarily make the rooms any better. The rooms are non-linear for the most part, but you always know what you should be doing even if it takes you some time to figure out how to do it. And there are several a-ha moments (always a good thing). I prefer them in reverse order of the way we did them--the rooms kept getting better. Five full stars easy. PS. David was an awesome game master.
