An escape room in someone’s real-life basement has no business being this mindblowingly amazing! Seriously, we pulled up into someone’s actual house, and experienced an adventure more immersive than countless other professional commercial establishments. It’s totally legit! The room itself is both a love story and a love letter to Edgar Allen Poe and his popular story The Raven. References are peppered throughout, so those familiar with his works will appreciate everything. The puzzles are honestly some of the best tightly-packed, well-clued, brain-stimulating challenges I’ve ever seen so meticulously presented from start to finish. This room, much like Poe’s stories, is a work of art, with high tech marvels and an unexpected guest who literally brings the room to life. The effects, lighting, and cinematic moments set the spooky mood masterfully, and they are entirely up my alley for the blueprints to an excellent escape room. Tom and Nicole are lovely owners, and this escape room in their basement might just be the most idealized perfect room that I could ever have the privilege of playing. This last-second addition to our big Carolinas escape trip has easily risen to my top favorite rooms. And I will not forget this amazing experience, nevermore.
