The Crystal Mine

As a child I yearned for the mines… Thankfully, I was able to live out this fantasy in the Crystal Mine. A really clean and simple room executed well with working tech. I mean that’s a win for me here. The design was actually really good. The props were created well and the cave section was a really great looking area. I was blissed out in the slop. Nothing insane about the puzzles or their challenge level but all well themed and A surprise banger from Padlock’d and a breath of fresh air.

Wait, but if I’m mining and you’re crafting, then that means… What a surprisingly adorable little mine adventure! Having now played every SINGLE Padlock’d room, it’s sometimes tricky to know what you’re gonna get with them and when posed with a kid-friendly run of the mill experience like The Crystal Mine, I honestly thought it was gonna be a bit of a bummer. But what I found instead was a small-scale, well dressed escape room that actually came with a lot of charm. While the puzzles were relatively simple, that didn’t detract from the experience as a whole, there were precious minerals to be mined and friendships to be made and by God, did we achieve both. It’s hard to pin point exactly what it is that made this one memorable, could’ve been the company, could’ve been the delirium, could’ve been the friendly staff, who’s to say? All I know is that I had a really fun time and got given a really cool collectable pin at the end. I’m a simple man. 7/10 🔏🧩

I really liked this room. One of my only notes is that its various rooms were small. Had it been a little bit larger, it would have been perfect. We had a great gamemaster, and I appreciated the story.

Fun escape, with some different puzzles! Found it overall relatively basic gameplay.

Quite a small room with relatively easy clues to solve considering the difficulty rating. Great for families. Quality props / good feel.

I didn’t mind this room. I had to really use my head for one of the puzzles but other than that, it was definitely on the easier side. I think this is a good room for beginners (although the difficulty is 4/5).

A bit tricky for the first puzzle as you don't know where to start (amazingly thought out though) I liked the way the escape room is put. Everything relates to the theme.

We had high hopes for this room after so many stellar rooms from Padlock’d, however this room was subpar. This room had a unique theme and was ascetically pleasing with some cool technological puzzles. However it lacked any sense of a story line and there were several puzzles that needed additional signposting or pen and paper available to solve. As this room is located at their other venue it is very tiny, although the space was used relatively well. With proper signposting and working puzzles (there was a whole puzzle we didn’t get to interact with due to a breakage) I would say difficulty was more like a 2.5/5. Overall some room for improvement in this game. We’d give it a 3/10.
