This is somewhere between a thumbs down and a like for me. If there were a rating between those two, that’s probably where I’d land. I tend to err on the side of giving a room the benefit of the doubt, though, so I initially gave this one a thumbs up despite it feeling a little tired. There were lots of locks, including the super-shiny gold ones where it’s almost impossible to read the letters, which I always hate. We were required to use DVDs at one point, and they had so many fingerprints and scratches that we had trouble getting them to actually play. One item that was supposed to become visible after opening a lock fell without us hearing it and rolled under a table. The walkie-talkie hint system also made it very difficult to hear and communicate with the game master. The more I write this, the more I realize I’m changing my rating to a thumbs down. This was the first room I brought my friend to, and it just wasn’t as fun or engaging as I had hoped it would be. Several of the puzzles weren’t particularly intuitive, and the lighting was so dim that some visual clues were genuinely difficult to see. There were a couple of interesting elements, but overall, this one feels like it needs a refresh or may simply be ready to be retired.

None of the puzzles were especially difficult, but we found ourselves struggling and rushing at the end because several of them just weren’t very intuitive and almost felt like the lighting and other elements made it challenging in a way that was not intentional.
