The Dome

I did not connect with this room at all. My partner liked it, and we made it out just in time. We got of to a horrific start, and I never really recovered from that stupid feeling. I only enjoyed some very few seconds here and there. It had anything I don’t like in a room, except padlocks: It was noisy and confusing from the first second, and it was full of anoying surprises, so it never felt possible to do the right things in first try. I enjoyed 1 scene of the game a bit, where we were forced to communicate in a different way - but even then I was annoyed by incredible noise. This is clearly a good room for many, but not me.

It’s for a reason the DOME is so highly ranked! The story is just mind blowing, the tests you have to go through are really challenging, and at stages you think you’re in an arcade game…or am I just hallucinating?! For sure you spend an hour full of adrenaline. But find it out for yourself

Such an immersive game! I have no idea how some of the more elaborate elements worked, but they were amazing. Lots to do. The built quality was excellent and there was one particular puzzle which we had never seen before. There was one slightly scary part, and lots of adrenaline.

Myself and a few other Escape Game owners travelled from Scotland to The Netherlands to play some of the top games in the world, as well as some of the rising stars. The Dome was the third stop on the tour. Like so many games in the country, it is a masterpiece of technical effect, but everything else was quite divisive! ---- MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD ---- As someone who enjoys the ways we interact with the room, there are plenty of novel ideas here. Several times I said "ooh that's good" as I worked on a puzzle. The transitions between rooms were quite jarring, sometimes in a very cool way, sometimes in a confusing way. ---- MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD ---- Let's get into some of the divisive aspects of the game. Number 1, the story. It...was there. Compared to some of the other games, it was quite bare. Not necessarily a bad thing. But it seemed disjointed in places and some major points were just dropped at the end. The gameplay also has the potential to create some serious frustration. The Dome is the only time I have ever seriously considered giving up in a game! However, frustration aside, the ending was incredibly fun and getting to watch highlights of our game is a nice touch. Overall, ranking the game in hindsight, this giant of the industry failed to make the top spot for anyone. It is still worthwhile to pilgrimage here to play, and experience arguably the most famous escape game in the world. But as the emerging generation of games clearly inspired by it begins to grow in stature, The Dome's time at the top looks under serious threat.

Look, the reputation precedes it and it has a lot to live up to... But it kinda does. It really does. I'm still not even sure how conscious I was after the first five mins, it's a real fever dream. Incredible.

For the last couple of years I have stood by another escape room as the best ever. THIS room. The Dome - wins hands down for me!!

Such a fun concept, really great and different puzzles and not a lock or key in sight! The atmosphere definitely holds a lot of apprehension and tension so slightly more on the spooky side. Definitely a must do in the Netherlands. Also the lounge area for before and after is wonderful.

We flew out to play this game after hearing so many reviews. The actual concept of the game and the way they have created it is exceptional. The construction of the game is faultless, we are still in awe at how some of the puzzles worked. We were slightly taken out of the atmosphere due to the spooky nature of the room and experiencing moments of darkness and uncertainty. This is why if you are like us to play in a group of a minimum of 4. I would say however that you must experience this room, there really is not an experience like it elsewhere.

An unassuming building in an industrial estate hides an incredible experience. The waiting area is the finest I’ve seen with a host of games to play and a great wee bar to keep you fed and watered. I didn’t know to expect and hadn’t read ahead. I’m unsure if this was wise. Maybe I wouldn’t have done this room if I’d read about it. I’m not going to give any spoilers so I’ll just say it’s the craziest thing I’ve ever done. I’m still not really sure what I did or why. I’ve watched the video of our progress back and I still don’t know what I did or why. I have no idea how things happened but I do know I laughed a lot, had an amazing time and would highly recommend this experience to others. To be clear this is an experience and not an escape room. Bring as many people as you can find and have an unforgettable experience of your own.
