Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express

I am pretty impressed by this room as my expectations for any escapology room is always lower. I thought it was very challenging and puzzles were really fun, satisfying and flowed well. There were a bunch of red herrings that were leftover from old puzzles no longer in use which is always a bit disappointing. But overall, the theming was cool, there were multiple great puzzles, and I had a great time. One of my favorites from Escapology. Also Dee was super friendly, kind, and helpful!!

I love Agatha Christie. The Murder on the Orient Express is obviously her most famous work, which does the room a disservice. I am glad that they tried to do a storyline that takes place after the events of the novel, but it just wasn’t that interesting. Now if someone wants to do a room based on And Then There Were None, sign me up! The puzzles themselves were ok, but they didn’t test our “little grey cells” all that much. The biggest issue was that there was a key prop that was mislabeled so despite doing the puzzle correctly you couldn’t solve it. The game host eventually gave us the answer and we still beat the room with plenty of time. We asked the host to solve it after we beat the room to see what we may have done wrong, and they realized the labeling mistake. We asked how other teams could beat the room with a broken clue to the puzzle, and they said they always just gave groups the answer. That should probably have been a good sign that someone at Escapology should have checked the puzzle sooner to see why groups couldn’t get it right.

We enjoyed this room. We had done the Budapest themed room several years ago but they gave some a nice job not replicating/renaming those elements. It’s mostly linear but that worked well for us and we had a good time. We only needed 2 extra hints!

Loved the theme and the puzzles were very fun and unique. A few were tricky and hard to solve but I really liked the story line here!

Disappointing for fans of the book, for sure (no Poirot in sight!), but an OK room in its own right. There are ghostly remnants of other puzzles past here - which only serve to distract from the real puzzles. They should really remove those.

This one was very good! Only one clue needed. Though it was challenging, we were able to complete with only 2 of us!

We have done all of our escape rooms with just two of us, at all difficulty levels. This one is fairly tough, we needed at least three hints to complete some of the puzzles. We did enjoy it, although we ran out of time right before the last action needed to solve the room.

Second time playing this room and it was as much fun as the first time! This room definitely makes you think! Even though I was sitting back and not playing very much, even I struggled at times trying to help the group when I didn’t remember the answer. All of the clues and puzzles were very clever, usually with the answers hiding in plain sight and being super easy (just sometimes time consuming) as soon as you figured out exactly what to do!

We played this game as soon as it opened and I feel like it might have benefited from some additional beta testing. There were a couple of things that didn't work properly and it felt like there were either too many puzzles or the puzzles were too complicated for a 60 minute game. Theming was good although it was relatively unchanged from the previous game, Budapest Express.

Solid room! Clues were fun and made sense. Minimal interaction with staff but they were friendly. Would have been really tight with more than 4 people. Would recommend!
