The Theater

We were one of the first teams to play the room when it opened it St Louis. I think this is one of the reasons I enjoyed it was because everything worked. The set was a mixed bag, I was really impressed with the lobby of the theater and the theater itself. These rooms were bright and colorful and really brought you into this amazing world. The office, however, was a bit of a let down. Now I know an office of a theater won't have the same showmanship of the rest but it just plain and unfinished like they but the bare minimum in so there would be puzzles to solve but then after that they ran out of money and/or passion. The puzzles were fun and really had a nice whimsy about them that fit the theme of the room perfectly. The finale of the room was a little drawn out. I can appreciate the theatricality of it but if I had seconds on the clock before time ran out I would be flipping tables waiting for this to finish.

Loved the atmosphere and the set up of the rooms. As previously mentioned in other reviews, gameplay puzzles are not linear and some did not work. No red herrings. Our GM was great at watching, listening and providing helpful clues when needed along with coming in the room to fix the puzzles that didn't work. I personally would have thought to come back and do other rooms but other reviewers said all their rooms are like this so I might not.

We flew through the game solving all puzzles in 30 minutes, only to spend the next 20 minutes sitting in the room because we couldn’t get the game masters attention to explain that their keyswitch puzzle was not working (a puzzle we had ‘completed’ at the very beginning, but as it was a non linear game, this was one of 4 parts required for the final sequence). We were genuinely seconds from walking out and leaving when she finally paid attention and gave us 3 clues for puzzles we had already solved. She then came in the room and said ‘oh it’s not working, the number is this …’ and then we put in the code and finished. We clearly explained that we were unhappy with the game and received no recognition on the faults. No team photo, no offers for any compensation, no explanation. Horrendous experience, awful customer service and a genuinely terrible venue.

Yet another run-down room from the company with puzzles being broken so you just have to skip them. We had a phenomenal Game Master, but like my other reviews with this company, I can’t recommend it for the treatment of the team members by the owner.
