Agent 13 has an impressive buildout, but is way too reliant on finicky tech. This was the first time I’ve had to leave an escape room while the GM addressed (and in the end, did not succeed in fixing) a technical issue. Our GM was clearly very competent, but the room itself had programmed actions that could crash and were difficult to bypass if they did. Moreover, the final puzzle was a masterclass in frustrating busy work. We had to comb through a large text file on a computer terminal in one room, and yell instructions via a faulty analog telephone to our teammates in a different room. Not fun, and again, a situation where the room is hobbled by tech issues. What saved me from giving this room a thumbs-down was the fantastic customer service from both the gamemaster and the manager, who was very apologetic and comped us the room due to the technical difficulties. The staff here were really excellent during our two days at 13th Gate, and were very attentive, friendly, and available if we needed a nudge.

Rating: 3.5/5 - Super high tech, but wish we didn't have tech issues Pros: ➕ By far the coolest spy/secret agent set I've seen, loved the progression into the bunker and the large moving set pieces. ➕ Lots of custom, integrated tech, minimal padlocks. Despite the tech, the interactions were still mostly still physical/tactile. ➕ Everything is decorated and finished floor to ceiling, they even added high ceilings just because they could. ➕ So many little details, all the props looked realistic. ➕ Many "wow that's cool" moments ➕ One kinda fun physical activity, though it's not mandatory ➕ Climactic ending ➕ Audio, lighting, voice over, and special effects added to the immersion ➕ GM was friendly and helpful Room for improvement: ➖ A communication puzzle was too difficult because the audio was too quiet. However, the GM can provide a bypass for the communication part if needed, though this takes away from the immersion. ➖ One button failed which required the GM to bypass a puzzle for us. However, the manager was very apologetic and took care of the issue. They later showed us the sequence that we missed due to the bypass. ➖ One series of puzzles had way too much reading and extraneous material to sort through, it was annoying. ➖ I wish the hints were delivered via a character like in their other rooms instead of the GM talking to us over the speakers We played as a team of 5 enthusiasts but I'm not sure if we actually finished on time because of the tech issues, regardless we finished the game. Make sure you are not afraid to ask for hints, also tell the game master to nudge you when you get behind. This game is not for beginners due to the difficulty. My ranking of all 8 rooms here: 1. Cutthroat Cavern ❤️ 2. Tomb of Anubis ❤️ 3. Spellbound ❤️ 4. Disappearance of Flight 13 ❤️ 5. The Asylum ❤️ 6. The Collector 👍 7. Agent 13 👍 8. Death Row👍

It's hard for me to review the individual games at 13th gate because I absolutely LOVE all of them. Agent 13 gave my inner child and my adult self the satisfaction of living out the lifelong dream of being the cool agent saving the way.
Everything felt very based within the world. I never felt like I was doing something a secret agent wouldn't do!
It's 13th gate ..... Top notch!
Absolutely fantastic. Some of the best pre-game banter I have ever experienced!

This was my 350th game, didn’t know it at the time, but I’m completely ok with it! This wasn’t the favorite of mine at this location, but it was still a blast! The four of us were extremely busy the entire time and loved splitting up multiple times throughout the game. One of the best agent/sci-fi game I’ve played.

The space to use this game was awesome! And I loved the “divide and conquer” section.

Depends if you’re claustrophobic, which I am. There’s this one spot, was tough but got through it and loved it! Had the comfort of a bright emergency exit light if I needed it haha!

LASERSSSS + lots of spy related actions. Fun fun room. I think the best spy/agent room I've played. I learned to shimmy, to defuse, to hack, to count it was great :).

I thought this was a really fun room, and I had a much better time than I thought I would given the other Morty reviews. It has classic spy theming with puzzles that made sense. I sometimes feel like spy rooms have a lot of cumbersome puzzles, and I didn’t at all feel that way with Agent 13. Absolutely NOT a skip at the 13th gate!
