It is one hour to midnight in the small fishing village of Fenwick. The full moon is about to crest and a mysterious ship has sailed ashore. Thinking it odd that a ship would be mooring so late, you head to the docks to see who might be there. Strangely, though, when you arrive you find the ship empty...not a soul aboard. Something feels amiss and as you walk across the wooden floors, a whisper in the wind tells you a tale of a ghost pirate who plundered the Seven Seas taking riches beyond anyone's dreams. Once a month on the Full Moon that ghost pirate comes to life and can walk among the living again. Being a true pirate you know you must find the treasure. But be quick -- you have only 60 minutes before a supernatural force comes back to claim what's his.

Puzzles ๐Ÿงฉ: 7.5/10 Set/Wow Factor โœจ: 7.5/10 Story/Immersion ๐Ÿ”ฎ: 6/10 Fun Factor ๐Ÿค˜: 8/10 A solid local pirate themed escape room in the ByWard Market! There were plenty of puzzles to keep the four of us busy, working together or in parallel. The Pirate's code is a nice 1.5 generation room with a mix of traditional puzzles, lock and key, combination lock codes to decipher, and some automated puzzles, too. We are a bit fuzzy on what the story was exactly, but there was no mistake, we were on a pirate-y mission. Argh. ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ JigSaw did a great job with the decor and build to evoke a sense of nautical, lootin' adventure and the room was in great condition. It was a bit dark in the room to read the text (we were told to use our phone flashlights if needed, and we did end up needing it) but we found all the puzzle solutions made sense and had a moderate level of difficulty. Everything related to the puzzles worked as it was supposed to, and we had a lot of fun solving them. The only technical hiccup may have been that the audio for the storyline from our protagonist did not play, but it was not crucial to escaping the room. We got out with 20 minutes to spare! We think this is one of the better rooms from JigSaw Escape Rooms, and recommend it to those in Ottawa.

Great decor and friendly staff. My only negative is being told we can use our phones as a flashlight. Rooms shouldnโ€™t require any outside items, and there should be sufficient light or light tools in every room by default.

We had a really good time. It is a really fun game with a fair amount to do with some really interesting puzzle design. Would definitely recommend! We were disappointed that multiple things didnโ€™t activate when we placed it correctly. Fully appreciate that sometimes itโ€™s just one of those things but it did take the wind out of our sails slightly.

Gameplay

There was a really satisfying progression to the game.

There were a few moments that didnโ€™t active which was a really big shame because it ate into our time and created a lot of confusion.

๐Ÿงœโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ Shiver me timbers, a Jigsaw room I actually liked!? Iโ€™ve only done two other rooms here, both of which I found lacking (Study and Diamond), but happy to say Pirateโ€™s Code gets the emoji between the ๐Ÿ‘ and โ™ฅ๏ธ from me. Lots to do; would agree with the three person minimum or two enthusiasts. My friends and I were on the second to last puzzle when we ran out the clock and lemme tell you they were opening the door RIGHT as the timer hit zero, lol. We literally just needed two more minutes but yeah, HS students working minimum wage who donโ€™t give af so heads up that you probably wonโ€™t get that extra bit of ~customer service here. Overall, a fun room, great for 3-4 people. โ˜ ๏ธ set was (too) dark! Staff was telling us beforehand we could use our phones as a flashlight. ๐Ÿ‘ I liked the clear indicators when a puzzle was complete.
