The year is 1972 and Summerhall is home to The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. Advancements in animal medicine have never been so progressive and revolutionary with record breaking numbers of animal organ transplants. Whilst students learn how to perform canine dentistry and the difference between a fur-ball and a swollen lymph gland, a secretive lab at Summerhall is created. The lab known as the Kensie Research Lab or the ‘Secret Lab’ was a marvel of the 70’s with technology that no dog could ever imagine. It contained the very best equipment money could buy and a group of scientists whose work would go down in history. The genius in charge of the lab was Dr. Elsie Kensie, a brilliant bio-scientist, specialising in domestic animals. Her experiments were groundbreaking, her ideas were radical but not everything played out how she hoped. Do you have what it takes to discover the secrets that she was working on and help save the pets of the world?

Very good puzzlefest of a room. They were kind enough to let us have a go as a two and we certainly didn’t get that close to the end but really enjoyed it. Huge variety of puzzles that were pretty well themed to the story and a real mix. Well hosted by Marge who kindly showed us what we missed. We would recommend a minimum 4, which is exactly what they state unsurprisingly, but however many it’s well worth a go

This was our favorite room for the amount of puzzles and variety of puzzles. There is A-LOT to do which made it really challenging for 4 people. But we had so much fun. The staff were amazing too! In the top 3 out of the 35 rooms we’ve done. Extraordinary experience!

An exciting room with plenty to do at a challenging, high level. It was a lot of fun.
The gameplay is easy. You’re guided from one puzzle to the next. There are lots of exciting things to do. It was fun!
The room needs to be designed with more attention to detail. It didn’t really feel like a lab.

There wasn’t anything I hadn’t seen before, but the puzzles were carefully selected, planned, and executed. No elements were repeated—except for the number locks.

I prefer playing in a team of two. But here, there is way too much to do for just two people. You should definitely play this room with four players.

🧪🥼 An incredibly fun puzzle-fest with a very satisfying climax- maybe one of my faves to date! I know the general rule of escape rooms is less people = a better time, but for this one, trust me: this non-linear and densely packed room is well-suited for a large group! I played as a duo and we were running around, hard. Our gamemaster was very nice and removed a puzzle they keep for larger groups, probably saving us about ten minutes. So much fun and definitely a favourite of ours on our Scotland trip! Do it!

A large room set in an actual old veterinary lab. Tonnes to do in the hour, I'd recommend 6 people for this one! Some really nice puzzles, a really large room and great use of scientific gear and tech!

We were a group of 4 for the secret lab! The role playing from Ellen was great brought me giggles! We got slowly into what we were supposed to be doing and once we divided into teams of two we were more able to solve each puzzle! We were very close at escaping and solving the whole problem! Definitely we will come again for another game

Escape room was really enjoyable, good mix of puzzles with some really unique ones. A good open room where team members can split off and do different puzzles so the whole group feels involved! The team at locked in Edinburgh are fantastic!

Booked the Secret Lab as it gets very high reviews online. We are a family of 5 (3 teenagers) who have done quite a few escape rooms so wanted to give it a try. I would say it was enjoyable but probably better for bigger sized groups. They did take out some of the puzzles to make it more manageable for our size of party which made me feel like I was missing out on the full experience but there were lots of puzzles to get through. Lovely, friendly games master, some really good puzzles and we did enjoy our visit.
