“Could not recommend this room more. Puzzles were linear and made sense but challenged your thinking at the same time. Felt very immersive and because of that, working with people you just met came easily. Great for team building, favorite room at Escapology I have done (Mansion/Budapest were the others).”

“So much fun! Lots of puzzles, and crawl space to explore. Some parts may be difficulty to access for folks with limited mobility. The theming is excellent and there is enough to do that larger groups would be occupied throughout. Our GM, Rachel was fantastic and gave just the right amount of assistance.”

“Excellent pirate-themed room with a mix of physical locks and tech. Strong on story that was fun to play through and would work well for players of all skill levels. We loved our GM, Marie, who was friendly and helpful throughout!”

“Unravel a dark, Lovecraftian mystery and strive to undo the horror currently menacing the world. Puzzle-heavy, excellent use of space, and a story that builds. Some parts may be difficult to access for folks with limited mobility. Our GM, Ky, was lovely!”

“Another absolute banger from Escape Hour - This room is best for larger groups and requires strong communication and trust if you want to escape. We experienced this game with 6 people and that felt like it was the perfect amount, however, I can see much larger groups participating in this room and still enjoying themselves. Puzzles are solid, and the environment is immersive.”

“I was called! Called in my dreams or in my nightmares I’m not quite sure. All I know is I answered. But once I took one step in I wished I was still in my bed. Safe from whatever the hell inhabited that damn house. 70 min I ran, 70 min I hid, and for 70 min I screamed my ass off. This was the most fun I’ve ever had. For anyone brave enough this is a must do! Just be sure to use the bathroom first.”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
