“Wow. I leave escape room reviews every time. This one has me lost for words. Memorable barely explains the experience, but like the reviews all say, this room is worth a trip from another country, It’s #1 for a reason. Like your best bottle of champagne pop the cork and do this one on a very special occasion with your favorite people.”

“The first 2/3 of the game are fantastic. The set design is fantastic, having the team separated and working together to get out is a blast, and the puzzles are clever, unique, and on theme. Prison Break is also really immersive. It doesn't feel like an escape room... until the last room. The end no longer feels like a Prison Break and the immersion falls away. It largely becomes a situation of "solve these random puzzles for... some reason". That being said, the first 2/3 of the room still definitely make it a room worth doing, especially with a team of 4-7 people.”

“We absolutely loved this room. It’s thoughtfully designed and well maintained. The storyline was fun to play through and our GM was awesome! While The Escape Game is a franchise, we have found endearing nuances between locations and absolutely love playing their immersive games.”

“My second room at the escape game! It made me confident that the quality of their rooms is consistently great! They keep up the great set design, great puzzle design, and make sure that each room has something special to allow it to stand out. Fantastic work!”

“Another outstanding room from The Escape Game! The theme was immersive, and even permeated into the puzzles themselves. Great mix of mostly high-tech puzzles and a few mechanical ones. Would definitely recommend!”

“This may be one of my favorite from The Escape Game, right behind Playground! Mostly mechanical puzzles, with a handful of high tech elements. The puzzles were almost all multi-phased. This room required team work throughout the entire game!”

Houston is a sprawling metropolis, full of intermingling cultures, diverse cuisine, and a broad variety of exciting attractions. If you plan to visit Downtown Houston with the family, then a double decker bus tour will provide lasting memories for all. Of course, if you aren’t visiting with the family, then The Church of Beer might be more to your taste. And if historical attractions are more to your liking, then a biking tour of Historical Downtown could be for you. It also happens to be that there may be no better place in Texas for experiencing some incredible and creative escape rooms. Houston has somehow become a great hidden gem on the US’s southern border, and is surely worth a visit sometime soon.
Houston has become a hotbed of escape room experiences over the past few years. Since the first escape rooms arrived in Houston, America’s fourth most populous city has embraced these immersive experiences. In fact, greater Houston is home to nearly 30 different escape room venues and Downtown Houston is home to the city’s most exciting and original games. The Man From Beyond at Strange Bird Immersive was named the TERPECA #11 top room 2021. A Wizard’s Tale at Escape Again Rooms is a 90-minute, high tech game that can be enjoyed by all ages. Escape Hunt’s Houston, We’ve Had a Problem is a challenging game that can be great for slightly more experienced players. With nearly 100 escape games in the area, the possibilities are basically endless — you’ll find games with themes of horror, adventure, crime, espionage, and plenty you may not expect.
Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
