“This was a really fun room and even better for the Pottermore fans out there! The puzzles were linear, yet challenging. Also, a very unique way to interact with the game master, that fit the theme perfectly!”

“Definitely lives up to its difficulty rating. The atmosphere and rooms were very fitting and immersive, and the puzzles were also a fun challenge to solve (even though they didn’t fit into the theme as much as their other games.) Most of my complaints with the room are personal gripes, such as little story, the dim lighting with no flashlights and sudden loud noises. Despite that, I enjoyed the room and solving the more complex puzzles with our GM assisting when needed.”

“This was a great mix of high tech and mechanical puzzles, and highly engaging. The adult, the young teen, and middle schoolers in our group were all challenged without being overwhelmed. The staff is very friendly.”

“This was a great room. The theme and set were done really well with unique, interactive puzzles. We had 15 minutes left and we were a group of 2. Great for a small group, I would recommend only 2-4 people.”

“As reviewed previously, The Escape Game franchise continues to be THE standard by which all other rooms are measured. And once again, Gold Rush did not disappoint. This was one of the easier rooms at this location and was mostly linear. This would be an excellent game for a team with a few rooms under their belt. The room is very immersive and had some very fun puzzles, some of which we had not yet seen. We had a great time playing Gold Rush.”

“We brought a very large group of adults and kids (ages 5-14) and everyone was able to participate! The puzzles vary in difficulty in a way that makes it so great for a mixed group age wise. Plus we went at the end of summer - right before the kids had to go back to school! Great theme and fun for families.”

“Very fun puzzles and atmosphere! Puzzles were very unique and provided a great challenge, and the GM was very good to us. My only complaint would be the images used for a certain puzzle being discolored, since they were needed based on color. Other than that, a great room!”

“Amazing escape room! The puzzles suited the overall storyline & theme very well, and the puzzles flowed very smoothly. The atmosphere was super fun & had lots of cool props & unique puzzles. We only had one malfunction (item getting stuck & not dispensing) but staff was quick to assist & return any time lost. The starting room felt a bit too crowded at first, but other than that it was an amazing experience for our group!”

“Best escape room I've played in a while and so far my favorite out of this company besides the scooby doo one. All of the escapeology newer rooms are top notch. Challenging unique puzzles especially the one you gotta do at the end to get to the last finally one. Rating 10 out of 10.”

San Antonio is a beautiful, historical city that sits just 150 miles north of the Mexican border. The city’s Mexican routes are just as apparent today as they were in 1731, when it became the first chartered settlement in present-day Texas. Known for its culture, cuisine, and architecture, San Antonio is a vibrant city that is a wonderful destination for anyone seeking a fresh experience. San Antonio has a world of attractions worth visiting. There’s the Japanese Tea Gardens, which are perfect for a peaceful afternoon stroll. Or the San Fernando De Bexar Cathedral, if historical architecture is an area of passion for you. And of course, don’t forget (about) The Alamo… sorry. San Antonio is also home to some of the best escape rooms in all of Texas, and is sure to offer you an experience like you’ve never seen before.
There’s good reason why San Antonio is beloved as an escape room destination by experienced players, as it is home to some of the very best escape rooms in all of Texas. Since the first escape rooms arrived in the city, San Antonio has crafted some of the most imaginative escape experiences in the region, and the city just keeps upping its game. In fact, greater San Antonio is home to over 10 different escape room venues, and that number is sure to rise in the future. Zombie Room at Great Room Escape is a thrilling experience that seamlessly intertwines its puzzles into the story. Saint Angelo’s Castle at Komnata Quest fully embraces its prison escape theme. Extreme Escape - Stone Oak’s The Lost Tomb boasts one of the best set designs in the region, and is sure to enthrall players of all caliber. With over 30 escape games in the entire area, you’re sure to find the perfect game for you and your group.
Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
