There were several elements we felt were confusing that didn’t need to be, including non-sensical choices for puzzle solutions, odd wording, misleading elements and repetitive themes. Escapology offers some decent rooms however this we felt wasn’t one of them.
RobotcalypseOmventure - MarkhamEscape roomIRLWe appreciated the game play and logic. This room has a particular element loved by some and not others. For us, this particular element isn’t our preference however for those who enjoy this type of ending, I’m certain they would love the way it plays out in Robotcalypse. It’s very well done, just not our favourite style;

The Sorcerer's StudyEscapeworXEscape roomIRLThough the supervisor at this venue was very pleasant and reasonable and willing to refund us, the game itself was probably the worst we’ve ever done. Nearly every puzzle was either malfunctioning, opening early, stuck, or missing parts/not set up properly. The whole game was void due to the severe issues from the very beginning to the very end. It was a total disaster.

Motel BettyOmventure - MarkhamEscape roomIRLI cannot say enough about this room. It is immersive, rewarding, incredibly scary, unique, it’s in the elite tier of rooms that has everything you could ever want. I. Was. Terrified. Super unique puzzles, the effects are next level, everything was in great condition and worked perfectly. This is a room everyone needs to do. And it’s 2 hours!!! Plus about 3 hours of recovery time 😂 But honestly the time flew by and we enjoyed every haunting minute of it. A+++++
Nyctophobia: Fear of the DarkOmventure - ScarboroughEscape roomIRLThis room was challenging in its own way. It’s always great to play a room that’s different from most others. They honoured the concept extremely well and tied in some great, creative puzzles. Definitely creepy but not necessarily scary. Really enjoyed this room and the tech and effects that are worked into the puzzles.
L'Île perdue de la Reine Vaudou [The Lost Island of the Voodoo Queen]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLAnother epic game at Escaparium Laval. The immersion on this one is jaw dropping. It stands out from the rest in so many ways. This room had the most unique and extremely well themed puzzles, with a perfected flow. Everything works perfectly and feels new even though it isn’t. This is just a complete pleasure to play. Top notch design and mind blowing quality.
Armoire à Vendre [Wardrobe for Sale]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLThere’s no scale that effectively rates this room. Ok so if you’ve been on the escape room scene for any length of time, I’m sure you’ve heard about this room. It’s quite simply, phenomenal. Honestly, it’s so good I was absolutely speechless. This is not just an escape room, it’s a captivating, all encompassing, full blown experience. At moments, you’ll forget you’re even doing an escape room It is FILLED with perfectly designed, incredibly clever, extremely enjoyable, expertly themed puzzles. Every room forevermore will be compared to this one because it’s just setting the bar for escape rooms. Jonathan is one of the best and offers so many incredible rooms- everyone should take the trip to Quebec to experience them.
Seven Dwarfs: Mining MissionImprobable Escapes - WonderlandEscape roomIRLThis was a super fun room! Once again, Escaparium Laval is setting the standard for what escape rooms should be. The puzzles are custom designed to theme and always clever and unique. A pleasure to play and uses several different senses. A must play for sure.
The Haunting of NorikoEscape Games CanadaEscape roomIRLThis was a great room with some fantastic elements that I haven’t seen used before. One in particular stands out that I haven’t seen in any other room to date and I absolutely loved. This room brought out fear, excitement, intensity, frustration (the good kind?), and adventure. It was creepy for sure but not too scary and had lots of puzzles we loved and some we weren’t huge fans of but still enjoyed the room quite a bit overall. Escape Games always proves to be one of the best in the area.
Polly's Problematic PredicamentNexus Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThis one was……different. It was fun to play qnd is absolutely not for kids. Much credit to nexus rooms for going there. It’s novel and has some interesting elements that I’m certain you haven’t seen. Light hearted and funny, and we had some good laughs. But if you’re the modest type, this room is definitely not for you!
The Lab: LockdownRevo EscapeEscape roomIRLOne of my favourite rooms ever. Not because of the immersion or theme or even the tech. But because of how different it is. Revo makes games that rely on real-world problem solving which is actually quite underestimated. This was a refreshing and challenging game that had us thinking in a completely different way than ever before. The level of physicality isn’t for everyone but we absolutely loved that aspect of it. We want more of these rooms! They’re such a cool way to implement common escape room themes but with a gameplay like you’ve never experienced before. Kudos to Revo for finding a way to stand out in such a saturated market.
Last ResortEscape Games CanadaEscape roomIRLThis was the first actually scary room I did and it remains a favourite. Well made, great use of tech, unique puzzles and awesome effects. Truly enjoyed this one and may have screamed once or twice 😉
