Inksidious - CLOSEDEscape Room 66 - Los AngelesEscape roomIRLWOW! What a fun room! First off, Tuesday was an AMAZING game master. She went above and beyond to make our visit special, and I can’t say enough good things about her. I’m SO grateful. Then the atmosphere—one of the coolest lobbies I have seen (very cozy and fun and lots of stuff to do), and I’ve done about 60 rooms. Then the room itself. Wow. I don’t want to spoil anything, but the vibes were so cool, and the puzzles felt very fair but not too easy either. One of my favorite rooms ever all in all, and I HIGHLY recommend Inksidious to anyone looking for an amazing time!
Blackout Experience: A Game in the DarkBrainy ActzEscape roomOther I actually did this room at the San Diego location, but they don’t have a Morty, so I’ll leave my review here (they are another Brainy Actz). This room needs some more reviews! I thought this room was really cool! I have done 60 rooms, and I am so very glad my husband and I did this one! It is truly pitch black, which is crazy. That’s not something you ever really come across. The theme is fun, the puzzles are interesting, and my only negative is that I broke several nails feeling around the walls in the dark. But for anyone who hasn’t done an escape room like this, I highly recommend you check it out! It was a novel experience for sure.
40 ThievesMindTrap Escape Room - TemeculaEscape roomIRLLoved this room so much! The theme was on point, and some of the technology was on par with theme park rides. Puzzles were challenging without being impossible. One piece of technology didn’t work properly during our game, but our game master was on it, noticed right away and helped us through it. As soon as our game was over, they had someone come in to make sure it would be fixed for the next group. I really felt like the game master was one of the best we’ve had, because she was actually paying attention to what we were doing and therefore could give actually helpful hints without giving too much away. I would definitely recommend this room. Thank you, Makaylee, both for being an excellent game master and also for your recommendations for other rooms. You’re the best!
Ghost PatrolTrivium GamesEscape roomIRLWOW! This room was SO fun! We made a Herculean effort to include this room in our recent short trip to SF, and it did NOT disappoint. Trivium Games and host Brad were all class, and their one room, Ghost Patrol, is now at the top of my all-time favorites list (I’ve done more than 50 games across six cities)! It was just my husband and me, and we got out in 84 minutes. The theming was so fun right out of the gate (the welcome video cracked me up) but in the end the story was so poignant it almost brought me to tears. There were so many puzzle mechanics we hadn’t seen before, and nothing was designed purely to be frustrating (like we have seen in other rooms). And on top of ALL that, Brad (and the ghost!) made my husband’s birthday weekend *incredibly* special. We really appreciated the attention to detail, and their level of service/going the extra mile for special occasions is unmatched. Thank you so much, Brad and Trivium Games! When your next game opens up, we’ll be there in a heartbeat!
Spellbound - CLOSEDGreat Room Escape - TempeEscape roomIRLThis room had so much promise, and the theming was great, but the person running it did not enjoy her job and it was often hard to tell what had opened when we did something right or to read what we were staring at. The place is dark (every room) and you only have one small lantern for the whole party. We didn’t finish, and she didn’t even want to show us what we missed (even though we arrived 15 min prior to our time). She didn’t even offer to take our photo. She rushed us out saying the next party was in the lobby (they weren’t). Would not do another room here. A stark difference to the people who ran a Santa room and a Museum Heist room we did earlier in the weekend (who clearly loved both people and their jobs).
