CSI: The Chopping BlockExit West BroadwayEscape roomIRLReally fun room but crazy hard for fifty minutes (50 min?? Wth) Loved the room design and the fun puzzles, but some of them were pretty confusing (and we’re fairly experienced players) We were racing against the clock so it was a bit hard to follow the story and we didn’t catch the ending “who dunnit” but overall this was one of the funner rooms we’ve done in Vancouver
The Secret of the Serpent SanctumFind and SeekEscape roomIRLReally fun room, cool props and puzzles, AMAZING GM, but holy cow lots of time sucking puzzles… there were only 3 of us and we were going pretty slow… we didn’t escape in 60 min but the GM was awesome and said he wanted us to enjoy the whole room so he gave us extra time. It took us another 15 min and we solved it
Escape from MacGregor CastleQueen City Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis was my fave room this business has had so far… a great mix of tech and locks, and teamwork rooms are fun with one group in jail and the other out. The set was great, and even pretty immersive. There was even one puzzle that made me say wow!
Gold Mine - The Return of the Gold RushQueen City Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLFun room with just a few flaws in the flow and the puzzles, but overall fun.. we really enjoyed it We did this room a few years back and this is definitely completely changed with new puzzles.
The Mystery At The Majestic TheatreFind and SeekEscape roomIRLThis room had potential but as soon as we came to the FIRST exhaustingly long puzzle (a logic problem that didn’t fit the theme and took us almost 15 min to solve) we knew there was no way we’d succeed in this 45 min room. I’m really opposed to rooms that are under the standard 1-hr minimum but then on top of that, give you time-sucking puzzles that feel like a chore to solve. This is definitely an hour room with only a 45 min timer. It’s setting paying customers up for disappointment. We paid over $110 for this experience and we left feeling frustrated and ripped off. We haven’t played hundreds of escape rooms like others we know, but we’ve played over 30 (escaped all but 3) and only a very few of those were 45 min escape rooms. Please change this scammy business model.
The Curse Of Madame Zita’s CuriositiesFind and SeekEscape roomIRLOverall this is one of the better rooms in Vancouver. The decor and set design were exciting and fun. That being said I’m opposed to 45 min rooms. People are paying a chunk of money for an experience, and 45 min falls short, especially if the room is a 1 hr room in terms of difficulty. You’re setting paying customers up for failure.
Ringmaster: Cursed Curtain CallE-Exit - Gastown Escape roomIRLSuper fun and really enjoyed the theme and puzzles. The puzzles were pretty standard but fun, and there were no “wow” moments for me, but it was still really enjoyable
Transylvania - The Lost ChildExit CanadaEscape roomIRLI really liked the theme of this room.. fun story. My one main complaint with this chain is there crappy immersive-breaking hint system. The GM’s just come into the room to tell you a hint. But I did like this room and had a cool flow
Space Mission: GuardianThink Tank Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLI’m giving this a heart for the immersion alone and there were definitely a couple major “wow” factors. The flow was pretty good but the puzzles were overwhelming at times. This company has this odd way of choosing your own difficulty (in reality, they never really gave us a choice and I think just ran it at “average”. The problem with this method is it leaves a lot of puzzles that look like obvious puzzles that you don’t need to do so you feeling like you’re missing things.
Prison Break: Warden Strikes Back!Escape - DivisionEscape roomIRLGod we loved this room! Even though we allllmost got out but failed, we still had a blast. There were so many fun elements in the room, and it everything felt well done with great touches in the theme. We’ve done other prison rooms that were a bit more immersive but this was still fabulous.
Mayan DoomsdayThink Tank Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis was a great room.. the set design was incredible and immersive. There were a couple puzzles that I wouldn’t choose to use in an escape room but with got through it. The hint system was definitely not my favourite, but we still used it and appreciated it. Overall I loved this room especially for the beautiful immersive design of it. And we definitely knew when we’d finished!
Evil Dead 2 - CLOSEDHourglass EscapesEscape roomIRLI am so glad we got to do this room before we left seattle. There were 3 of us and the pace was perfect. It’s a 70 min room and we made it out in 61 min, so we felt it wasn’t too hard, but it was perfect for our team. Full of tons of fun props, amazing decor. We haven’t seen the movie but we want to now!
Midnight ManorEscape Hour Gig HarborEscape roomIRLThis room is visually stunning with some really cool puzzles but we were definitely finding ourselves really stuck and overwhelmed several times. The GM was always helpful when we asked but we still felt like we were struggling quite a bit. When we got out, I’m pretty sure we went a few minutes over our time but our GM told us we had 6 seconds left on the clock which was an awesome way to run a business. We didn’t feel like total failures when we left lol
Secrets Of The Great PyramidQuest Reality GamesEscape roomIRLThis room exceeded our expectations because of the dislikes on Morty … it was super fun, but the ending definitely took the wind out of our sails with a massive equipment failure.
Motel 66Horror EscapeEscape roomIRLWe really loved this room. My expectations were low because there were a lot of negative reviews to the point that we almost didn’t choose this business, and the 45 min is quite off-putting, but we did manage to escape in 41 min, and on top of that, we left reeling with excitement and exhilaration from the coolness of the room. It was an awesome design, great flow, great puzzles and nothing too complicated. I think if the owners made these rooms 1hr to fit the present industry standard, they’d have mostly terrific reviews. This room deserves praise, it was great.
Medieval PrisonTrapped - CoquitlamEscape roomIRLWe really liked this room, and I like the spin on the prison theme being medieval. The flow was smooth, puzzles fun, we used 3 hints and made it out in 40 min. There are no clocks so if there were, we probably would have used less hints… we were mostly just panicking because we thought we had less time than we did.
Heist! - CLOSEDQueen City Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis escape room is much less flashy than big city rooms we’ve played, it has a more amateur feel, but that being said we still had a lot of fun doing it. There were some cool puzzles and had a “local” theme which I liked. There isn’t really a hint system besides just leaving the room and asking for help, and you can also hear everything going on outside of the room, but that’s just the space I guess. No sound proofing. There are some creative puzzles but there are also a couple red herrings which were annoying (I really dislike blatant red herrings). Also there were a couple design flaws in some of the puzzles at the end that could have a simple fix. But all in all, we still enjoyed the room. No big wow moments, and the story didn’t grab us (hence not a lot of immersion) but everything was clean and worked (nothing broken) and there were multiple rooms, which I always love. I left feeling glad I did it, and we all had fun
Booby TrapThink Tank Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis was a fun room with some really fantastic puzzles and moments that made us laugh too. The GM (owner?) really went out of her way and came in early so we could fit a game into our schedule (we were trying to catch a flight). I didn’t realize it’s a one room game or we would have picked one of the other two, but overall the puzzles were great and we definitely knew when we succeeded at the end, unlike other games that sometimes leave you wondering. We’ll definitely be back to play the other two when we’re back to Spokane!
Siren's CoveEscape Hour Point RustonEscape roomIRLThis room (and the 2 at Locurio) were our two favourite locations during this trip to Seattle. The design and complexity of the set was just incredible. The puzzles were excellent and added to the immersion. There were definitely some puzzles that I had never seen, that were so whimsical and fun. The room itself was like being on a movie set with the coolest room surprises. I wish I could just stay there and play this room a few more times lol The hint delivery system was hilarious and the GM was fantastic. Now we want to do all the rest of the rooms too (we also did the fantastic "Mayan Ruins" in Gig Harbor). The rooms at Escape Hour are always top shelf
The Vanishing ActLocurioEscape roomIRLI absolutely loved this room from start to finish. It felt so well done, with very cool twists and turns, really great room design and a story that captivated us. It’s rare to find a room that has a story that just makes sense and is fun and easy to follow, and this room did that for me. I also love rooms that aren’t all tech, there is a lot of fun in opening locks, especially when it fits the theme like this does. This room was a great mixture of mechanical and tech, but honestly the story is so fun that I was just swept away in it!
