Daylight RobberyBreak Escape Nottingham - Upper Parliament Street [prev. Cryptology]Escape roomIRLReally enjoyed this game, set design is great, loads to do, especially for a team of two.
Trezor: Tajemství Jacka Daniela [Safe: The Secret of Jack Daniel]The Padlock CemeteryEscape roomIRLPlayed this for my 100th game. Really enjoyed it, super impressive design and space.
Kino Úsvit – Záhada Ztracených Diváků [Dawn Cinema - The Mystery Of Lost Viewers]Lost ExitEscape roomIRLthis is up there for one of my new favourite games. I love film and cinema which probably added to that too. This game was 90 minutes long (10 mins are watching a video which is part of the game). Felt immersive and had Meta elements which I always love. Again puzzles we hadn’t seen before. You must go here!!!!
Dream EscapeBreak Escape Nottingham - Upper Parliament Street [prev. Cryptology]Escape roomIRLSome parts slightly worn/low production value but it was sooo much fun. We loved this game.
WonderlandThe Chamber StaropramennáEscape roomIRLReally loved this game, hosting was great, set design always amazing at chamber. Puzzles were fun, just had a good time!
OuijaHorror BoxEscape roomIRLNearly didn’t book as its quite pricey for just a group of 2 but went ahead. So glad that we did! This is definitely up there in my top 3 rooms. I cannot recommend enough. I have been looking to do a decent ‘scary’ room in a while and this was perfect. Just the right amount of jump-scares and creepy design. The physical design of the room was top quality, felt very realistic as apposed to ‘plastic, fake’ rooms. The puzzles and gameplay was fantastic too. The way the clues were delivered was really nice. Sound design again was amazing. Did get super loud at one point which did hurt my ears but other than that it was pretty faultless. If you are in Barcelona you HAVE to go play this game. Wish we had time in our schedule to try the other two rooms.
White MissionGozsdu Mission Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLHaving known people who have tried White room at this company we decided to book Prison as i’d never done a prison themed escape room before. When we turned up I asked about the difficulty & staff said this was for beginners. So we asked if we could do the most difficult room instead (white room), and we were very pleased when they said yes. It’s recommended a minimum of 4 people for this room because it is challenging but we went in just the two of us ready for the challenge. The room works on a basis of asking for help when you’d like - we limit ourselves with 5 clues if we are trying a difficult one and ended up using 4 for this room. We got out with 4 minutes left so well worth the money. Nice design and quality of the props and theming. Possible with two people, only experienced though as I think had we not done quite a few before it would be very very hard with just two. There are multiple puzzles that can be completed at the same time so I think having more people would still work really well unlike other rooms where you can be a bit redundant. Overall would recommend.
Upíří Hrobka [Vampire Tomb]Chess KEY Room - Únikové hry PrahaEscape roomIRLAvoid this game. Terrible hosting, set design poor.
Tempeljäger [Temple Hunter]TimeBreak BonnEscape roomIRLA really beautiful game with some nice physical elements. All of their games are linked by a story which was cool. You can see a lot of time and money has gone into the set design, but i don’t think the prices should be as high as they are compared to other games i’ve done of the same standard.
Ancum – Der GroßeTimeBreak BonnEscape roomIRLA very enjoyable game. The venue has a great set up with a story that gives a reason for the games to be there. Nice challenging puzzles but not too difficult, we did it with about a half a clue and plenty of time to spare. Only con is that it’s Very expensive for two people, but the set design is great and you can see where the money has gone, just a little too steep for what you get in my opinion!
The Z Files - CLOSEDPrestige Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLNice puzzles, small space which would probably bother some people but we didn't mind. You do require something I would consider as outside of general knowledge which was frustrating.
Wild West QuestCluetopia - IpswichEscape roomIRLYour classic rootin tootin wild west game. We flowed very well with this game, with no clues required but still having to think about some puzzles. Lovely ending to the game where you have a bit of fun. One prop was broken but we could still solve the puzzle. Built well and looks great too.
Murder on the Dancefloor - 70s DiscoCluetopia - IpswichEscape roomIRLWe had fun in this game, it’s nothing special, second part of the game felt very ‘worn’ with props having seen much better days. But you could tell it was built with passion, some basic and some clever puzzles which had our brains working. Liked the ‘clue system’ in the first part of the game and felt pretty immersed when ignoring the broken/worn props.
Locked InnEscape IpswichEscape roomIRLSome simple puzzles which are very easy to overcomplicate if you have played a lot of games, so probably more for beginners. We enjoyed the game but nothing amazing, quite a small room too. Accessibility: One person is required to crawl (they provide knee pads, but they were at the other end of the tunnel so a bit pointless, probably a reset issue)
The Taken Room - CLOSEDEscape IpswichEscape roomIRLA very average game, would suit first time players or if you have exhausted all other games in the area. The production design was pretty poor, the blood was done with what looked to be a red emulsion paint, the props had seen better days. I felt as though we were very much in an escape room plonked in a room rather than in the serial killers lair. We still spent plenty of time in the room and had to ponder with a couple puzzles requiring a few hints (though i feel some were required from lack of sign posting/illogical jumps), it just felt a little lack lustre & old compared to their other games.
Sub ZeroEscape IpswichEscape roomIRLNice simple set design but immersive enough to feel like you’re in a sub. You do have to use something more than once, this isn’t mentioned in the briefing so we did waste a bit of time assuming it followed standard ER rules. That’s probably just an us problem though! There’s a couple difficult puzzles but nothing too strenuous, we were told we struggled on the easy puzzles & not the hard ones. One of the better games at Escape Ipswich.
Casino HeistEscape IpswichEscape roomIRLThis was probably my favourite out of the games we played at Escape Ipswich, though still some flaws. Set design was nice, i don’t think the concept of the gameplay was explained all that well before we entered which hindered us slightly. My partner was obsessed with one puzzle for 90% of the game as he couldnt solve it (he’s big into casino games and i didnt really follow the normal rules/terminology of the game in real life which made it way more confusing than it needed to be). I solved everything else in the game whilst he was focussed on that, so it’s certainly not a game that requires a large group of people. The game started with a hint on the screen saying you may need to use some codes again so to leave them on the locks (never seen this before, would maybe have been better if you had something to write down on). I enjoyed some of the puzzles, and the feel of the room. Being punished on your total money at the end for the amount of clues you have is slightly annoying but didnt bother me all that much, but i know that it would for a lot of other people.
DreamEscape Artists - OrlandoEscape roomIRLThis concept had so much scope to be better. Some parts of the game were unique and could have been someones dream, other parts just felt like they were rooms taken out of generic escape rooms and plonked in which was disappointing. We did enjoy certain aspects of game, and there were fun moments, but the rest let it down. The intro was weird. We were told to watch a video, the GM would come back into the room & repeat what the video says, another video played with the story, and the Gm came back in and did the same again. Ruined the immersion and was totally unnecessary.
Bros for Life: Fraternity HeistThe Escape Ventures - Orlando Waterford LakesEscape roomIRLReally good fun, you can tell a lot of passion went into making this game a fantastic experience for experienced and new players alike. None of the puzzles were massively challenging but not too easy. Set design is great, and a unique theme too.
Outage: No VacancyThe Escape Ventures - Orlando Waterford LakesEscape roomIRLA unique one, 60% of this game is in pitch black. So you have to be hot on your communication skills and ability to stay organised in an attempt not to trip over props or one another. It’s all done by touch. I’m not sure i’d play another game like this as the gimmick would ware off, but i’m glad we played it. Very unique experience and challenging enough.
