Lab Rat
Hatch Escapes
Escape room
IRL
Having done over 75 escape rooms, it isn't often that we see a room that is wholely unique and stands out from the rest in the way that Hatch does with Lab Rat. My family of four just completed the room on a whirlwind tour of LA. Hatch was kind enough to open a bit early to accommodate our tight schedule and we are so thankful they did. The room is an absolute must do - worth traveling for. The puzzles are so well thought out and satisfyingly tactile to solve, and the story and immersion really take it over the top. Our game master, Liv, was phenomenal. Her orientation was engaging and thorough. The nudges she gave were clear and efficient, and she didn't interject unnecessarily. Our room experienced a tech glitch, and she rolled with it admirably and handled it in a way that didn't disrupt the flow of our game. This room quickly took a spot as one of the best rooms we've ever done. We can't wait to order their home games to see how their immersive in-person experience translates to an in-home adventure.
Dr. Gem’s Time Trap
Maine Escape Games

This still holds our number two spot of escape rooms we've done out of just over 100 games. Maine Escape Games never disappoints, and in our opinion this room is their best. It's high tech with satisfying puzzles and one of the coolest reveals we've seen. We loved it so much we went back so our kids (10 and 11 at the time) could experience it. They basically ran the room themselves because the flow is so good - we only had to nudge on one part.

Our top room of nearly 100. Great story, amazing cohesion and flow, several wow moments, and a phenomenal game master to boot. (Thanks Kim!) Our only regret was not booking more rooms here.

Olde City Escape Games

Yet another stellar room from Olde City Escapes! We had a glitch with our booking but they were so nice and patient while we sorted it out. The room was incredible and we were so happy to have the chance to do it while in town. Definitely in our top 10 games of all time. Wouldn't recommend for a group larger than 4.

Our kids were OBSESSED with this room. They were still talking about it months later. The puzzles were novel, the tech was high, and the overall experience was the same exceptional experience we have come to expect from Maine Escape Games. Definitely a must-do if you're in the area. Great for newbies and veterans alike.
Uncle Ned's Cabin

....have I mentioned I love Maine Escape Games? If we had to rank all the rooms at their facility, this is our third favorite (after Dr. Gem's Time Trap and Alien Invasion), but honestly it is a difficult decision. The attention to detail in this room is IMPECCABLE and the puzzles are charming. There are several surprises and one puzzle format/solution I have been waiting for ages to see. Great for families or newbies because it has awesome flow and relatively easy puzzles. Great variety to keep the full team busy (after the first few minutes anway.)
The U-Boat
Red Fox Escapes

One of the best escape rooms that we have done in New England! We had Giovanni and Joey (I hope I spelled their names correctly) as game masters for our rooms (we did all three) - and both did an amazing job. The rooms themselves are incredibly high production value, with many delightful and novel approaches to puzzles. As enthusiasts who have done ~100 rooms together, my husband and I were surprised and delighted to find this gem not too far from home. UBoat had some puzzles that were deliciously challenging, others that were satisfyingly tactile, and generally just an extreme attention to detail that left us excited for the next room (and then sad there wasn't a fourth.)
Escape Your Fears

Definitely not our favorite room at Maine Escape, but a solid room nonetheless. It isn't as polished or novel as their other games - Alien Invasion, Uncle Ned's Cabine, Dr. Gem's Time Trap - but still a worthwhile way to spend an hour. It's very light on the horror/jumpscares, but it has enough theming to still be a little unsettling. As with all Maine Escape Games, the puzzles are just the right amount of challenging, the flow is well thought out, and it's a room that's obvviously built with love and care.
Alien Invasion

Even 7 years later, this still stands out as one of the best rooms we have ever done. Aside from the first part of the game, there is almost no text/language elements (as part of the "Alien" part of the game), something we found delightful and entirely novel at the time. Many of the puzzles are deliciously tactile, and there aren't a plethora of conventional locks like a lot of escape rooms. As with every room at Maine Escape Games, it is crafted with an amazing amount of care and attention to detail. We've been looking for 7 years for something to kick this out of it's top 5 spot, and after ~100 rooms, we still haven't found it.

Great room for 2! Super fun that there's a mini escape to enter the facility. Won't tell more about the room, but if you're an escape enthusiast couple this is a definite must do in Vegas.
