Le Grand Hôtel De ParisThe One EscapeEscape roomIRLHonestly, this is the best experience I have ever done. The production value was through the roof and it was truly scary and immersive. I don't want to spoil anything. There really are no words to describe it. My only caution is that is legit horror. If you don't like haunted houses, this might be a challenge. And last word of wisdom. Pay attention to everything. There are so many details that I think we missed and it was still amazing.
Le Taxidermiste [The Taxidermist]Deep InsideEscape roomIRLThere's a reason this is number 12 in the world for escape rooms. It was exceptional. I have only done 1 room that I enjoyed more than this, and I think that's just a preference. The entire experience is exquisite right from the start. I think the setting and decor were the best I've ever seen.
Le Magicien De Paris [The Magician Of Paris]Deep InsideEscape roomIRLThis room is great but not the top. The taxidermist is resoundingly better in almost every way. I also liked the grand hotel better as well. However, those two are rated higher and I thought this one was still very good and had a fun story and cool interactions but the story and decor in taxidermist are just unprecedented.
Special Ops: Mysterious MarketThe Escape Game - The GalleriaEscape roomIRLThis is top ten escape rooms I've done . The electronics and theme were superior. It felt like you were part of the mission. The ambience really created a crazy good time. The puzzles were thought out and reasonable. We didn't get stuck on anything for a really long time. We left feeling like things made sense. Overall, TEG does a great job with most of their rooms. But I do wish they did private rooms. It's always annoying to play with randos.
Bunker B-57: Expédition Plutonium ! [Bunker B-57: Plutonium Expedition!]The Little Red DoorEscape roomIRLThe overall game play was fantastic. The GM was great.
The Dolls Escape: Based On The Real Life Annabelle StoryBreak Free Escape RoomEscape roomIRLWe thought the room was overall really great. The theme was good and the puzzles were thought out and mostly functional. There was one thing that was clearly broken but didn't detract from the overall experience. The puzzles were a little on the easy side. We finished the room in under 30 minutes.
Kidnapped!Padlock Escape GamesEscape roomIRLThis was the least fun room I think I've ever done, out of about 100. There were very few puzzles. I think we counted a total of 6. Several were unintuitive and there was a lot of overlap of clues, so it was difficult to discern how to use the clues and answers.
Hallucinations Chimiques Chez Le Dr. Grant [Chemical Hallucinations At Dr. Grant]The One EscapeEscape roomIRLWe did the grand hotel and it was phenomenal, so then we tried this one, and it's not. It's fine. The puzzles generally were good and the theme was reasonable. Part of it was the letdown from grand hotel, part of it was some business issues and how they handled it. But also the room was just so so. This is a pure escape room with no live actors and in that category, it's like a 7/10.
NarcoEscapology - Sugar LandEscape roomIRLWe did this room as a team of 3. We were greeted warmly by the starting staff who chatted amicably about various things but taking us back to the room. We then learned she would not be our game master and instead a different person who we had not met would be running our game and he was also running 4 others. This seemed like a bad setup and pulled the GM in too many directions. The room itself was in good shape. Nothing was broken. For the most part, the game flowed reasonably well. The puzzles were very linear so it's highly encouraged to keep the group soze down. I had two major complaints about the room. First there were multiple puzzles in the room that were highly unintuitive and really made the game feel like clues were a must. The second was the GM have clues that were too specific. I prefer the GM to give nudges when asked and not just the entire solution. I would like to figure it out but just help get me going. Though not for one of the puzzles. That one just needs to be told the answer since it's so unintuitive. Overall the room is on par with many of the escape rooms across Houston, but the price is higher so I would recommend doing others instead of this one.
