Excellent theme, fantastic gamemaster. Lockbusters is widely known for their craftsmanship and themes, and they didn’t disappoint. The owner should be awarded. The room was appropriately themed, and besides a bad pre-room lock directive by the gamemaster, the room was novel and fun. Each challenge was appropriately themed, the reliance on of-the-era tech (radio, wire, apothecary items) was fantastic. A few non-obvious solutions and have to find it searches - made it challenging, some may dislike those moments.

Now, I am going to start with the one negative. This is the second Doldricks room we’ve done and we’ve spotted a Doldrick pattern. There is a habit of adding an additional reversal, reordering or jumble on almost every single lock set. It’s a little annoying knowing that you’ve solved a puzzle, but now there’s a trick to inputting the data as well. So 1234 is now 4321 with no added benefit to the room. Adds minutes, wastes time and it seems to be in all their rooms purposely to “make it harder” - it’s just annoying. Everything else is absolutely flawless. One of the best tools we’ve ever done. 99/100.

Here’s my humble opinion of what separates good from great to incredible escape rooms: FLOW. Good ones are thematic and challenging. Great ones are intuitive from A to B to C with blending into the theme. Incredible rooms put you in the EXACT plotline and order the room wants you to go, enhancing the plot, which nudgestt you in the right solution direction without needing a clue. This falls between good and great. All the puzzles were thematic and difficult, all the mechanisms and tech were seamless, but it wasn’t clear where to begin or go next. Each of the 4 orbs seemingly were isolated from each other (probably for groups to work separately) but it wasn’t clear what order you needed to solve the leftover lockboxes and mech. The last orb box order wasn’t intuitive, until the game master gave clues, which was frustrating to need that so close to the end because there were three areas where design impeded the escapist and burned unnecessary time. The artifact map, the fire box and the swords. I’d HIGHLY recommend this room for novice groups of 2-4, but a solo player has to be very fast, very experienced and guess-right-the-first-time-lucky to finish the room in time. While that seems negative, the props, plot, design, character, theme, and mech were incredible. I’d play it again with first timers. Loved it.

Strong theming, red herrings and tongue in cheek jokes are the brand of Edge Escapes and Magic School didn’t disappoint. However, the issue with this room was that it felt as though things were added on to make busy work and extra steps. The gamemaster confirmed it, and it confirmed our suspicions. The new stuff didn’t theme as well. There was also a redundant lock at one point and invalidated the original lock. It requires a clue No spoilers, but we also couldn’t tell sometimes when the tech worked or not, and the red herrings were so abundant, that it took added extra running around and took away from the beauty of the room/game design. Amazing tech, themed well, just didn’t alway ls work. Overall a 3/5, and fun.

A must-do for fans of Indiana Jones and The Goonies. Well themed, not obvious, great mech/tech with red herrings spread throughout. The small gripes are more about readability of 2 clues, but the gamemaster promised to remedy them for other escapists which would make the room 5/5. We loved it. They treated us like family and the room was fantastically organized and actually funny. We found out later they intentionally hide puns/jokes and we laughed out loud a few times. Will definitely finish 4/4 rooms they have and hope more escapists support them as they grow and build more rooms.

Quarantini Boredom Escapes - Online

"Acorn Cottage" is a point and click digital game where two players will need to work together in order to solve puzzles and ultimately rescue Professor Acorn and her marvellous Banana-o-matic Deluxe from the clutches of Big Banana (If you haven't noticed yet there'll be a lot of Banana mentioning in the game. We suspect the game designer really loves Bananas). This game was a lot of fun. We played in separate areas in the house and used Zoom to communicate with each other. Since we were provided with different information pending on if you chose to be player 1 or player 2, communication was the key to success. The puzzles were very creative and we enjoyed the back story. We had a full 49 minutes of fun. The best part about this is that the game is FREE. The game designer is mainly doing this for a good cause. If you do enjoy the game, remember to donate to one of their charities.

Arctic may be one of the most immersive experiences I’ve ever completed in an escape room. We completed it with 2 people, but 3-4 would be an ideal number as there is a lot to do and tasks can be split up, especially in the last two areas. We had 2 and we are an experienced team and completed it in time with only a few nudges. Everything was themed amazing and the mechanical reveals were absolutely incredible. Escapee Ventures does an amazing job of interacting in vital clue roles, and Arctic is no exception. We’ve done all 5 at the Orlando location and Arctic is another can’t miss room.

The Escape Ventures rooms truly are magical experiences. The staff is committed and always have roles in their rooms to interact and give clues/keys. It adds to the experience and the creativity of the actor clue in Granny’s was perfectly done and themed, and the actress was hilarious. This is an all age room, and a parent with a first timer would be successful. You don’t need more than 2 experienced escapists to complete this room, but 3 or 4 would also be fine. We had one mech issue, but the game master quickly radioed in and corrected the issue and gameplay quickly resumed. The theme was fantastic and carried through the entire room. We were told the Port Charlotte location has a few different rooms and we are making the trek soon as we love this company so much.
