First room at lockbusters is always a ball buster. This was no exception. The directional lock didn’t work the first 3/4 times we got it right, and the as always, the first room beat up 35-40 minutes. Flew through the other challenges with hints and had another lock/mechanism issue in room 2. Last room was a breeze but we still went over time. Frustrating, but they’re not at fault.

Late to the game but we left a review at the time and it was erased. It’s a starter room. Small, straight forward and novel. Game master was great, atmosphere was serviceably creepy. The issue in the room was a mistype (maybe an internal red herring) but a name was transposed. Best the room, enjoyed it.

Would be a great first room or a kids room. Not scary, a bit spooky (skeletons) and dark but it’s so well themed that it’s not a problem. Gamemaster was perfect, and it helped that we had visited lockbusters before knowing their quality and tricks. Magnetic release > number locks which aided the immersion and theme. Can’t say enough positive about the room.

The room was fantastic. Barring the fact that there was a missing piece we needed to solve the first room (game master added 5 minutes back) - the rest of the room was great, creepy, and themed. The designer/builder should be complimented for the level of craftsmanship and quality. Everything was tight and worked on first try.

Excellent theme, fantastic gamemaster. Lockbusters is widely known for their craftsmanship and themes, and they didn’t disappoint. The owner should be awarded. The room was appropriately themed, and besides a bad pre-room lock directive by the gamemaster, the room was novel and fun. Each challenge was appropriately themed, the reliance on of-the-era tech (radio, wire, apothecary items) was fantastic. A few non-obvious solutions and have to find it searches - made it challenging, some may dislike those moments.

The funny side of death and a single room. It’s a contender for a speed room or a solo room. The tasks were themed well and only one part was able to misinterpret (which we did) - but it was a great room. Could be a first room for a kid or team. There was one or two worn areas, which I’d recommend to be fixed (cheaply) to tighten it up. We had a blast and love Doldricks

Now, I am going to start with the one negative. This is the second Doldricks room we’ve done and we’ve spotted a Doldrick pattern. There is a habit of adding an additional reversal, reordering or jumble on almost every single lock set. It’s a little annoying knowing that you’ve solved a puzzle, but now there’s a trick to inputting the data as well. So 1234 is now 4321 with no added benefit to the room. Adds minutes, wastes time and it seems to be in all their rooms purposely to “make it harder” - it’s just annoying. Everything else is absolutely flawless. One of the best tools we’ve ever done. 99/100.

Here’s my humble opinion of what separates good from great to incredible escape rooms: FLOW. Good ones are thematic and challenging. Great ones are intuitive from A to B to C with blending into the theme. Incredible rooms put you in the EXACT plotline and order the room wants you to go, enhancing the plot, which nudgestt you in the right solution direction without needing a clue. This falls between good and great. All the puzzles were thematic and difficult, all the mechanisms and tech were seamless, but it wasn’t clear where to begin or go next. Each of the 4 orbs seemingly were isolated from each other (probably for groups to work separately) but it wasn’t clear what order you needed to solve the leftover lockboxes and mech. The last orb box order wasn’t intuitive, until the game master gave clues, which was frustrating to need that so close to the end because there were three areas where design impeded the escapist and burned unnecessary time. The artifact map, the fire box and the swords. I’d HIGHLY recommend this room for novice groups of 2-4, but a solo player has to be very fast, very experienced and guess-right-the-first-time-lucky to finish the room in time. While that seems negative, the props, plot, design, character, theme, and mech were incredible. I’d play it again with first timers. Loved it.
