Save The CityCity 13Escape roomIRLJust as epic as advertised. Four great escape rooms on their own, but the alleyway and meta-puzzles that tied them all together were truly special. Me and my six friends had a blast navigating the twisted streets and uncovering new areas. City 13 was also very accommodating, letting us eat in their great waiting area, so we were never too tired to push through.

Starts small and unfolds into a massive game full of charm. The Game Master was fantastic, too. Very charming and funny, he ran the game in character and really added to the atmosphere

Cabin of the Cackling ManPOP-UP Escape RoomsEscape roomPop upHaving done a couple of Pop-Up Escape rooms at this point, this is far and above my favorite. I say this despite the logistical and scheduling mishaps that meant I nearly didn’t get a chance to play. The puzzles are split between an NES-style video game and a physical room. Two people can play the game, while the rest of the team searches the room and finds keys. This split meant everybody had something to do and didn’t feel like we were tripping over each other. The video game was fantastic to explore, and felt like a fully-featured game rather than a prop. I almost want to play it again so I can experience the non-game puzzles and story that I missed. Highly recommend.
KAZAM! Escape RoomThe Wizard's ChestEscape roomIRLA surprising little low-budget room tucked away in a really cool gaming and novelty shop. The puzzles were fun, but the whole experience could use some improvement. Every puzzle reveals a code word that must be typed into a computer that also acts as a hint system. There is no GM present in the room, so all hints come from the computer. Puzzles must be solved in order, which is where this room breaks down. Instructions for finding the next puzzle are unclear, and often the hints do not answer the questions that we'd have. My fiance and I brute-forced solved many of the puzzles before finding the "correct" puzzle the game was looking for. We were also stumped by a visual puzzle that was very hard to parse. We knew exactly what we had to do to solve the puzzle, but could not follow through due to how hard it was to see. This was the first room I've ever lost, and it feels like much of that was due to the puzzles being too obtuse rather than challenging For a casual room in a game shop, it was a fun time, but I think it needs a few improvements before it's ready to be considered a really good room.
Detention: Escape From The Cursed High SchoolPOP-UP Escape RoomsEscape roomPop upGreat story, lots of props and colorful puzzles. Really creative use of technology. The haunted locker and telephone were great props and, combined with the music, made for a creepy atmosphere. I loved the multiple endings! I ran this with my girlfriend in a spacious college classroom and had a great time. I could see this being cumbersome with too many people.
