Gold Rush - CLOSEDThe Escape Game - ChicagoEscape roomIRLGreat room! Some straightforward puzzles and some a little more challenging. Mostly mechanical. Good beginner room and/or for a smaller group. We played with 2 people and I think 4 would be the comfortable max (probably better with 2-3). The room had some really cool surprises and unique features compared to other places. Also nice staff! Only downside of this company/location is that no rooms are private. The rooms are more expensive than any of the rooms we play in Michigan, so the idea of getting stuck with randos sucks, especially at such a high price point. Even booking right before the start time, we almost got stuck playing with other people who were trying to book 2 minutes AFTER our room should’ve started (but they were nice and decided to come back later). They offer 40% off if you book another room right after or 20% off on gift cards, which is nice. If it wasn’t for the risk of shared rooms, we would’ve booked a second room on the spot.

You can tell so much time and care was put into the set and puzzles (a couple builds and manages this location and they clearly put a lot of heart into their rooms). Very unique and fun, and just a little scary. Fun, interactive story. Challenging puzzles.

The Shadow of the RelicEscape Room BrightonEscape roomIRLMost disappointing room I’ve played in awhile, especially at a location that’s normally awesome. The room is brand new and multiple things were already broken/not working or half broken (things open up but they’re not noticeable). Things were more touchy than they should be. Nothing particularly fun or interesting about this room. Definitely kills a vibe when a GM has to come in to open things for you. Boring and few puzzles. Pretty linear so I don’t recommend bringing more than 2-3 people if you do choose to go. We had 5 and I didn’t even get to solve a puzzle. Even if everything worked, the room would still be pretty boring.

Casino HeistEscape Room ZoneEscape roomIRLI’ll start with the one positive: our GM Luca was super nice! But sadly, Escape Room Zone (at least this location and Farmington) is absolute garbage. This room worked more than I expected it to, but it’s sad “mostly works” is the best this place can do. Things didn’t flow well, magnetic pieces were super finicky, a key didn’t come out that was supposed to, one thing was broken, some directions were unclear, and one puzzle had a final step no one would guess without a clue. All this takes away from the experience and wastes so much time trying to figure out if you’re doing something wrong or if the thing just doesn’t work right. More frustrating than fun so not worth the money.
Blackwater Harbor: Echoes of the DeepEscape Room NoviEscape roomIRLAs per usual, Escape Novi has another great room! Cool story and scenery. Some fun jump scares. Good puzzles. I recommend a smaller group (we had 4) because it’s relatively linear and smaller spaces.

Multi-room with cool scenery and a unique storyline. Fun puzzles. Nice GM. The owners clearly care about their rooms and make sure everything works. Can’t wait to do more at this location!
Lincoln Park PrisonMystery Escapes Escape roomIRLSuch a great escape room! It’s awesome that it’s 90 minutes. Such a cool atmosphere with special effects. Lots of puzzles and quite difficult! The GM was very nice and so excited for us because we set the new record! Do a lot of escapes before you try this one and a bigger group is better, but once you’re ready it’s a blast! I can’t wait to do the other rooms at this location.

I’d say my least favorite at this location but that’s not saying anything negative because I still loved it lol, it was just a smaller room, less “fancy”, and similar theme to other locations with space ones. Still good puzzles and lots of fun! Everything works here and the owner clearly puts lots of time and care into the rooms!

I would definitely recommend building up to this one (they said Tony is the easiest) or be an experienced player. We have all done a ton and still needed a clue to even get started and like 4-5 total. The owner is super nice and this is a great place to do escapes!
