Treasure IslandBrain Games Escape RoomEscape roomIRLOne of my new favorites. And Greg was an amazing gamemaster. I was laughing throughout.
Rogue's CoveEscape Hour - VineyardEscape roomIRLThis was my 260tj escape room. It is easily the best room in Utah County. But maybe not for long because they’re going to have three more at this location. Highly recommend.
The Steampunk ExpressThe Imaginarium: Playground for the Creative MindEscape roomIRLGreat fun. Too-shelf decor. Fun puzzles (mostly—two puzzles were more time consuming than fun). Enthusiastic game masters. Very kind staff.
Dream PortalDaydream Adventures - DanforthEscape roomIRLThey take pride in their handmade props, and they’ve done a good job incorporating tech with their handmade esthetic. Charming neighborhood, too.
La Cerveseria [The Brewery]EnigmikEscape roomIRLSo so good! Everything shot it was amazing. Several things I had Berger seen in hundreds of escape rooms done. This is a must do room.
Percy Pendleton's Peculiar PredicamentEscape Quest United KingdomEscape roomIRLWow. So clever. So we’ll done. We couldn’t stop talking about how great it was afterward. And we typically prefer fewer locks. But they did locks right here.
ShrineEscape OpsEscape roomIRLCool homage to the Legend of Zelda. A bit too much math in the puzzles for my taste, but there was a really cool bonus round that was like unlocking a secret temple in the room we were already in.
Dynamic DuoEscape OpsEscape roomIRLBuilt especially for two players. And it was awesome. Very well done.
Servants of SleightThe Escape Ventures - Clearwater [prev. The Exit Games]Escape roomIRLThis was my 135th room, and I loved it! We traveled 3,000 miles to do this room based on all the great buzz we had heard, and it did not disappoint. We took our four kids and everyone loved it. It was my wife’s 100th room, and they celebrated by making her an “Escake” and a 100th room trophy. They took us on a tour at the end to make sure we understood everything, and they complimented my kids by name on the successes they had in the room. Classy. Immersion, attention to detail, and good old fashioned fun are all top notch!
The Starlight MotelEscape Artist Greenville - DowntownEscape roomIRLTake it from an avid escape room enthusiast, if you're in Greenville, you have to play Starlight Motel. The atmosphere is perfect. Puzzles are well integrated, varied, and matched the theme, and there were some great A-Ha moments. This was my 69th room and one of my favorites.
Inventor's Attic - CLOSEDEscape My RoomEscape roomIRLI did Smuggler's Den, Inventor's Attic, and Jazz Parlor. They were my 71, 72, and 73rd escape rooms, respectively. I can't say these were the best rooms I have ever done (that honor belongs to a room in Amsterdam), but they were pretty close. They are definitely must-do's if you are an enthusiast and live in the United States. The thing Escape My Room does better than any other room is create an atmosphere where everything fits together as part of a broader story. From how you enter, to what you do in the sitting room while you wait, to orientation, to the walk to the room, to the room itself, and the photos at the end--everything flowed seamlessly. It's as immersive as it gets. The rooms themselves were almost flawless. There was very little I would do differently, and even those would come down to preference and not necessarily make the rooms any better. The rooms are non-linear for the most part, but you always know what you should be doing even if it takes you some time to figure out how to do it. And there are several a-ha moments (always a good thing). I prefer them in reverse order of the way we did them--the rooms kept getting better. Five full stars easy. PS. David was an awesome game master.
Legend of TheradoniaEscape Hour Gig HarborEscape roomIRLFlew into Seattle for my son's 13th birthday from Las Vegas. We made the drive out to Gig Harbor just to do these rooms, which we had heard so much about. We did three of their four rooms and were not disappointed. Whether you're in the mood for bewitching, adventure, or a bit of a scare, Gig Harbor has it. They even put together a special birthday gift for my son! From start to finish, it was a great time.
The Mad RapperScenario Escape RoomEscape roomIRLWe loved this music-mixing themed room! This was my 127th room, and my friend's 2nd. It was equally fun for both of us. Very creative story and game play. A must do.
The Asylum: PlaytimeLost GamesEscape roomIRLThis was my 25th escape room (the Chapter 1 room). If it wasn't the best one I've done, it was one of the best. It was certainly the best at many things. I have never considered the storyline a very important element in an escape room, but I realize now that that's only because I've never seen it done right. Until now. Another thing this room did really well was use a variety of puzzles. In fact, there was only one locked box (hallelujah!). The decor was great. The mechanics of the room were unparalleled. Definitely a must-do room for escape room enthusiasts.
Smugglers DenEscape My RoomEscape roomIRLI did Smuggler's Den, Inventor's Attic, and Jazz Parlor. They were my 71, 72, and 73rd escape rooms, respectively. Tomb Of Anubis13th Gate EscapeEscape roomIRLThis was more of an Indiana Jones themed room (in fact, several chords from the theme played at the end). If you've done Red Giant in LA, the theme was very similar, though Anubis edges out Red Giant for mind-blow factor. This room, like the other two, had very high production value. Like a movie set or ride at Disneyland. But instead of watching from a ride car, you're interacting directly with everything. Really cool room with some very cool effects. This room, too, had something you had to reuse more than once, but at least it told you as part of the game. Overall The rooms really are as great as everyone says they are. Easy five stars. I have to bump my rating down to four, though, based on some of the policies that resulted in a bit of a tarnish on my experience.
One Eyed JackTrapped! Escape Room - Las VegasEscape roomIRLWow. These guys know their craft. I haven't done Puzzlemaster yet (I'm going next weekend), but One Eyed Jack was awesome. The room was very well integrated with the story. The game play was fun and varied. The technology was well integrated into the room. The ambiance was perfect. I do escape rooms all the time, and this was easily one of the best. Can't wait to do the other one. And they have a third opening soon. Also, Nick was very friendly and personable. He helped make the experience even better.
