Of the 3 rooms we did, this was the unanimous favorite. The room is spooky without being too scary. The GM does tell you that you have the option of calling off the jump scares if you want. The beginning might cause some anxiety for someone who doesn't like to feel restrained, but again the GM tells you how you can easily get out if needed. The horror theme is carried out perfectly from beginning to end. This room uses sight & touch to full impact, and also gives your brain a workout. (We never noticed the smell element other people have mentioned) There are some fun, unique puzzles here. On the negative side, there is a small element of vagueness here that was a little frustrating. There was at least 1 clue that I don't think we ever used for anything. There was 1 lock we never opened, which turned out to be completely irrelevant. This is a highly mechanical room, meaning there are alot of traditional locks. Clues did not really steer us towards the correct lock, so we were frequently trying the same codes in multiple locks. There is 1 area where all team members must crawl. Unless there is a workaround, this room won't work for someone with mobility issues. I would say this is a fun, enjoyable room. The cards they give you at the end with your memorable quotes throughout the game are a hoot too!

I have to agree with everyone else here. The starting puzzle is complicated & confusing. The experience could do without it. Once you get in to the actual room, the setting is beautiful & immersive. I felt like most of the puzzles were relatively straightforward. Like others have said, the ending comes out of nowhere & leaves you scratching your head trying to figure out how this fits in. It's also a little..... too little. There's really not much to it, it's unsatisfying & disappointing. All that said, the owner & GM were absolutely great & you could tell they wanted us to have a positive experience. The perfect GM knows when to give clues & when to let you work it out yourself, & that's what we got. At the end they give you a little card with some of your best quotes during the game. That was unique & a hoot! All in all, this was a perfectly good room but it could be a really good room with just a little tweaking

This room had potential, but in the end unfortunately fell short. This is a "no lock, all tech" room which fits perfectly with the theme, however the tech didn't always work as intended. The GM had to come in the room multiple times to reset things & had to manually trigger at least 1 puzzle. One puzzle opened something but we couldn't open it. We were told we had to yank on it, which flies in the face of the "2 finger rule" that's been drilled in our brains. We found many of the clues to be vague & there were multiple red herrings. There were 2 puzzles that involved clues that were extremely hard to see. Someone with vision problems/color blindness would not be able to solve them. The passage between rooms is very small & I'm not sure that someone in a wheelchair could access it. Since the whole room is tech, we expected a tech ending. It wasn't & was a let down where we were left saying "That's it?" Now for the positives. The set design is on point in both rooms & really immersive. The difference between the 2 rooms is also stunning. The GM was friendly & showed a love of escape rooms. The GM was also great about only giving us hints when we asked. The owner worked with us to set up multiple games & discounts, was communicative & went above & beyond to make up for a minor time delay. At the end of the game, they give you a card with some of your quotes throughout the game. That was really unique & fun! My final review would have to be that I loved the people, but could not recommend this room to enthusiasts in it's current state

Without giving anything away, this room starts in a fun & unique way before you even enter the room. "Fun & unique" continued throughout our experience of both rooms at this site. The set design is beautiful and immersive. The puzzles are fun. There are few actual locks, mostly tech which is fun. We only had an issue with 1 thing, where it was unclear what to use. The owner immediately brainstormed with us after the game on ways to cue it better, so I'm sure that puzzle will run more smoothly in the future. Speaking of the owner, she was absolutely wonderful & made our visit memorable. She bubbled over with excitement about escape rooms & that's how it should be. You can tell that love & excitement went into building both of their current games. We got a sneak peek at the 3rd room they are building & I have no doubt that one will be just as good

This game was so fun! The set design was immersive & you can't really go wrong with a good Christmas game! Puzzles were well thought out & flowed well. It might be on the easier side for enthusiasts but don't skip it just because of that. The GM/Owner was clearly passionate about escape rooms & took pride in her work. Her philosophy is to get people off their screens (I love that!) so there isn't even a screen with a timer in this room (your time is announced verbally) We even got background on set pieces & a sneak peek at their new room being built! I would not hesitate to recommend this room/company

I wanted to like this game. At 1st glance the set is super cute & the premise is fun. Some of the puzzles were fun too. But ... From the time we walked in, the GM was bored & disinterested. Even trying to engage him in conversation only got us Yup, Uh huh. The set looks nice at 1st, but when we interacted with it we found broken pieces & cheaply made pieces. There was 1 piece not attached to the wall that looked like it might be used, but when we picked it up it had a long screw sticking out. Other props were cheaply painted & a paper clue was worn & tattered. One puzzle involved seeing letters, but they were so well blended that our group of 3 looked at it several times, knowing what we were looking for, & still couldn't see it. Someone with colorblindness or any vision issues would never see it. Another puzzle clue contained more information than necessary for no apparent reason. The game has potential but needs a spruce up. As it is, I could not recommend this game

When I heard this was a points based game & not an escape room, I was disappointed. I am happy to say I was proven wrong! This room is actually an escape room on steroids! There is every type of puzzle imaginable all in 1 place. There is something for everyone's strengths. There are so many puzzles that it's easy to split up to divide & conquer, but then come back to work on puzzles together. While it's a little frustrating walking away from unsolved puzzles, that's part of the game & it was so much fun!

The fun starts before you even enter the room! Once you're in - well, I love a good spooky room! There were plenty of puzzles for the 4 of us to do both together & separately. There was a fun communication system. I had only 2 minor "cons." 1) A puzzle in the final room - there's really only space for 2 people, leaving the other people standing around 2) The ending didn't quite resolve. It didn't affect gameplay at all. Just one of those things that you realize after Overall this was a really fun room. Celina was an amazing GM - from the time we walked in the lobby to setting the scene to picture time.

From their escape rooms to their special events, Mystery Soup knows how to do things right! This was no exception. This is a 90 minute event with live actors for 6-10 people. Kind of a cross between Escape Room & Social Deduction game where you have to solve codes & open locks to get clues on who The Apprentice is. The game starts off a little scary but before long you're having too much fun to be scared! Somehow Giggles (Zach) manages to be terrifying, hilarious, and endearing all at once. Sister (sorry I don't remember your name) played her part well and helped us along. Gather your friends & book this before it's gone. You will not regret it! * I would recommend this game for people 16+ just because of the theme & younger kids might be scared. I also recommend getting as many people together as you can because it would be most fun with more people.

This place lets you choose difficulty levels so I will preface this by saying we chose the 60 minute "Challenging" version even though we only had 3 players (they have minimum 4) and they tried to recommend against it. For the most part this was a fun room but unfortunately what stood out was 1 big negative part. As someone else said, there is 1 puzzle that stands out as being poorly designed. The clues for it were vague at best, misleading at worst. But what made it even worse was that the GM left us hanging on that puzzle for a good 10-20 minutes. Don't get me wrong, I prefer it when a GM doesn't jump in & let's you work it out on your own. But this went on WAY too long. And when we did ask for clues (I think we asked for 3 on that same puzzle!) the clues remained vague & not really helpful. We technically did not finish the room because of this. To their credit, they did give us extra time at the end to let us finish. A notable positive was that this room had a lock I have never seen before. It was a combination of directional, number, &/or letter. So that was cool Overall it was a fun room but they should probably just replace that 1 puzzle

This was a fun room and super cute. This place lets you choose difficulty levels which is nice. The highest setting for this room is "Standard" Even though this room is relatively basic, there are definitely some red herrings in there to trip you up! There is 1 clue somewhere you normally wouldn't touch. There is also a small raised area between the rooms that we tripped over repeatedly. I didn't really see a reason for it to be there and they may want to look into alternatives for liability sake. All in all, fun room that I would recommend.

I'm not a video game player so alot of the references probably went over my head, but this was a fun room anyway. Our experienced group of 5 finished this quickly but .... that left us plenty of time to go back & solve the bonus puzzles! I actually think the bonus puzzles were more challenging than the main puzzles. I loved that we could split up to work on puzzles separately. 1 puzzle was not reset but the gm fixed it & gave us a few extra minutes on the clock I know the Bonus Puzzles have gotten mixed reviews, but they get a 👍 from me. I think they give the room a wider appeal where beginners can do the room but there is an added challenge for more experienced enthusiasts

Standard "Disarm the bomb. Save the world" theme with a British twist. Set design was nice. More tech puzzles than standard lock which is always fun & led to 1 or 2 surprises. That being said, several puzzles were vague, there were "red herrings" that we wasted time trying to solve, & some puzzles didn't work quite as intended (requiring jiggling to get them to work). There was nothing "wrong" with the staff, but nothing great either. They were all business with absolutely no warmth or friendliness. There were delays getting hints & GM had to ask if we had already tried things. The GM never spontaneously offered hints or asked if we needed one. We spent 5 minutes on the final puzzle & ultimately did not escape. From other reviews, it seems like they monitor multiple games but there were at least 3 employees on (1 walked us in, another gave hints, a 3rd walked us out). The employee at the end was a little pushy trying to get a rebook. Overall, this game had alot of potential but in my opinion customer service is everything & this place just didn't provide a great experience. I'm sure being in Boston they'll get lots of tourist business no matter what, but it's not a place I would rush back to

This room starts low light but is well lit once the lights are activated. The puzzles are unique and put a new "spin" on things. There are lots of surprises- every time you think you've got it, something else opens up! The ending to the story was fun & we never saw it coming! You can tell that so much work went in to the mechanics and technology behind everything in this room. As always, the customer service at Upside Down is top notch & you can tell they love what they do Side note: If you look really closely you'll find nods to their retired rooms. Kind of fun little Easter Eggs
