Lost in TimeEscape It Houston - WestEscape roomIRLScenery was great I had high hopes but are only a handful of puzzles and half of them are “find something on the floor in the dark” and there are signs everywhere that say “don’t stick your hands inside of things or pull wires you will get electrocuted” and two of the puzzles have you looking for things inside of things where sites are or could be, one of those things is a fake silver electrical conduit near the front door. That was a prop electric wire and not a real one. What the hell… after being told not to look inside things. Anyway avoid this room. Don’t you or your kids be sticking your hands in electric outlets or anything either. It’s a silver junction box in the first hallway near the front door. NOT an outlet. Not trying to spoil it but it was a stupid 20 minutes looking everywhere for a key. They couldn’t hide this key behind a tree or something?
The Dreams4 Dreams Escape Game - AustinEscape roomIRLDon’t listen to the review from Sankurasteph below - we were there after them and heard their nonsense they were a miserable group of people complaining about everything. Other escape rooms should be warned. The experience and staff (Christian) was AMAZING! This experience was awesome. And the room was VERY COOL. Excited about their new one. Their complaint about “failing a dexterity test” makes no sense we finished this room with two people when it’s four recommended. Nothing was that difficult. We’re do a lot of these things so we solve puzzles easily. But if the “test” was to push two buttons at the same time or place something down quickly before time runs out that’s why you have four people… dumb complaint from a salty Karen. The puzzles were clever and not spoonfed to you each sort of independently worked toward the overall room with a loose connection between them. Yes I noticed some props I’ve seen before in other rooms, but that’s normal Not everything you ever experience will be from scratch… even if sourced from a prop company the room experience isn’t harmed by that. Even the familiar prop (I know what they are talking about because another room in Austin uses the same prop) is used in a clever way that made it different. The uniqueness to this room is you explore each puzzle that’s how you get clues how to solve it. Example is push a button, something happens, push it again something else happens, start to see the pattern, then solve. This sort of challenge I personally like a lot rather than “look around, here’s the code, find the lock” sort of linear boring repeat puzzle. Also the last room especially had a clever puzzle we had never seen before which is always a treat so PAY ATTENTION to the clues you find and look everywhere to figure out what it’s talking about is my only hint. Overall this group has promise and excited to see what else they pump out
The CryptEscape Hour AustinEscape roomIRLOne of the best I’ve been to in Austin there’s so much to do in this one and the theatrics and design were on point. Very well done and worth a detour for
The Man From BeyondStrange Bird ImmersiveEscape roomIRLWow. I leave escape room reviews every time. This one has me lost for words. Memorable barely explains the experience, but like the reviews all say, this room is worth a trip from another country, It’s #1 for a reason. Like your best bottle of champagne pop the cork and do this one on a very special occasion with your favorite people.
The MobfatherGreat Escape Of Central Texas - KilleenEscape roomIRLVery well made, you can see the passion of the creator in every detail of the room. Great story, integration of props and scenery, and original theme. One of the best in all of Texas. Worth a detour or trip to do it.
What The F#@! Happened Last NightGreat Escape Of Central Texas - KilleenEscape roomIRLThis company is top tier and worth traveling to if you’re doing rooms in Texas. Passionate creator with a love of detail. This theme was the hangover movie, and without spoilers I’ll just say it was as naughty as the movie. Original theme and fun puzzles. No locks in this one which made it even more fun. It’s a two person room so take a date who has a sense of humor!
Area 51 S-4The Room - WichitaEscape roomIRLDecent gen 1 style room with a fun theme. Lots of puzzles on paper and locks on boxes, so it was pretty simple but the theme was on point! Flow was decent as well. We accidentally bypassed a few of the puzzles by luck, the GM said we were the first to do that in her experience. It was a decent and fun time.
Scooby-Doo™ and the Spooky Castle AdventureEscapology - McKinneyEscape roomIRLGreat for families and kids, the theme was on point it was really fun. Puzzles were also simple enough that beginners would have a great time. Not my favorite of the rooms here, but we liked it a lot. Gets all hearts because the room was perfectly executed as far as theme and flow and design
Mansion MurderEscapology - McKinneyEscape roomIRLThis was a great room. The puzzle design was unique many of the puzzles, very fun. It was a little on the hard side one of the puzzles required big leaps of logic connecting multiple things in the room. Hint: look at *everything* so you don’t miss any of these pieces. Clues will be in not obvious places but right in front of your face
Smugglers DenEscape My RoomEscape roomIRLStabbed by a random screw on the floor while crawling around in the dark. Customer service afterward was pretty bad. Pitch dark room meant to require you to feel around in the dark to solve puzzles, but my hand was punctured by a screw randomly lying on the floor. It wasn’t too bad but skin was slightly punctured. This wasn’t a big deal but seriously being in the pitch black requires a bit of trust, there should never be sharp objects at all on the floor and due diligence should be taken between games to ensure safety. After the incident I alerted the GM just to let them know. They forced us to exit mid-game to inspect it and take pictures. The whole ordeal took probably 5-10 minutes of distraction, talking, her walking up and then us getting back into the game. She offered us TWO minutes additional time to finish. And refused to just let us finish (we needed about five minutes) and was rude and rushed us out. You would think that as an I’m sorry they’d let us finish the last puzzle. The sad part is that it would have gotten a heart instead of thumbs down. Just goes to show that customer service is half the experience… theirs ruined it for us.
The Game MuseumClue Carré - MetairieEscape roomIRLBoard game and video game theme was on point. Game lovers this is for you. There were some very clever uses of medium that’s all I’m going say. Loved this one. Puzzles weren’t too hard but there were plenty to keep you busy. Can divide and conquer and there’s something for everyone so bring a group
The Sheriff'S OfficeClue Carré - MetairieEscape roomIRLWe did this with only two with no clues but we do a lot of rooms. This could be hard for those who are new to escape rooms, but it’s really fun! Team of 4 recommended. It requires a lot of communication between teammates which ads to the experience once you figure out what to do.
The GateBreak Free Escape RoomEscape roomIRLWe found ourselves singing “everything’s broken” when a bunch of puzzles were outright broken. A lock just opened with no code. The entry room puzzle opened without solving it. And a drawer was open that needed to be locked. The flow was completely off. GM had to stop the game to assist. Also the “tape” was rewound on the wrong side. GM setup error. Meaning we didn’t get a crucial piece of the puzzle and she had to come in and was confused. With that said theme was great and on point, nostalgic, as big fans of the show - but tbh we were so disappointed we almost requested a refund as we had high hopes for this room
Special Ops: The Fate of Agent SmithBack In Time Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLFun room and difficult puzzles. We finished with two with no hints, but don’t think that’s not challenging we just have done a lot of rooms. You’ll enjoy the challenge and the theme is detective work, so a decent amount of reading and clue searching
Wanted: Dead or Alive?Back In Time Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLGreat room. Clever puzzles and really fit the theme. A lot of room interaction and prop triggers instead of a bunch of locks which I like. GM’s are great at this place also.
ARM-2Dimensions Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLAmazing room, no locks, all high tech. Some very fun high tech elements. The first puzzle was so good it really tricked us. Not spoiling it. Very clever. This company was definitely worth the drive for. We’re looking forward to doing their other rooms and I’m excited to see what they come up with next
Wizard TrialsPanIQ Room - AustinEscape roomIRLVery well made, great theme, and so much fun. One of the initial puzzles was wonky and was hard at giving you the answer - but that was it. Everything was awesome. No locks, which I like, all theme related puzzles
William's HikeEscape Again RoomsEscape roomIRLThis company pumps out bangers left and right. All “hearts” from me. Puzzles have sturdy construction and work well flow wise. They were also quite straightforward there were no leaps of faith to solve any of them so the design was good. Difficulty level beginner to medium, their easiest one for sure but still challenging enough. Theme is this company’s strongest suit, they immerse you into whatever it is and you feel like you’re there. Worth a visit and worth doing all three of theirs (as of this date they have three) some of the best in Houston
The KillLet Me Out Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLGen 1, box with locks. Get the code; open the lock, get the code, open the next lock. Kind of outdated - their other rooms are much better. There also was absolutely no story… just a theme. Were you a detective? Were you trapped? What was the point… the end you just…leave the room. It felt off. Why were you even there? We asked ourselves… The set and theme went together which was nice, but a story would have gotten this room an ok rating. Another design flaw was that the puzzles were weak, and completely detached from the theme, including one puzzle that requires knowledge of an unrelated pop culture reference - which is a faux pas for an escape room (all things and knowledge to solve a puzzle should be part of the room). Another puzzle was so obvious it was written in front of your face in a “here you go, here’s the answer” where as we stared at it for 5 minutes trying to solve it. Thinking too hard here will get you lost. I still had a lot of fun, props worked and wasn’t broken, awesome staff… their other rooms are also great. This one was just a flop imo and needs to retire… compared to what escape rooms are like these days. I say this because don’t judge this company by this one room try their other ones! They’re very good!!
Murder MysteryBreak Free Escape RoomEscape roomIRLOverall a great experience. Not a spoiler but when it says you can type anything RED in the computer it means all red TEXT on that board in the room. This is crucial to solving the room.
