Irvine School of Wizardry and the Goblin's SecretsHidden DonkeyEscape roomIRLone of the best set decs. puzzles were pretty easy & scavenger hunty, and we needed one hide-and-seek hint which was annoying, so not a clean escape, but def worth doing
Irvine School Of Wizardry And The Dragon WandHidden DonkeyEscape roomIRLeven easier than their other room. very easy & scavenger hunt-y but def worth doing. some cool magic tricks
Jack The RipperMaze Rooms - Culver CityEscape roomIRLthe owner Curtis let us come back after i got food poisoning last time, & we escaped squeaky clean! also v easy but lots to do. one puzzle lock opened on its own. Meg was great and talks so fast!
The Dragon's LairMaze Rooms - Culver CityEscape roomIRLthe owner Curtis let us come back after i got food poisoning last time, & we escaped squeaky clean! v easy. one technical difficulty but then it resolved itself. Meg was great and talks so fast!
Activate [Interactive Arcade]Activate - Scottsdale (Paradise Valley)Escape roomOther not an escape room but v cool. better than Dave & Buster’s. wish they had alcohol
AvalancheMaze Rooms - Robertson BlvdEscape roomIRLone of the coolest set pieces i’ve ever seen design-wise. great work 👌
ZodiacFox in a Box ChicagoEscape roomIRLwe did 3 straight rooms here & RAILED every one: Zodiac 33:31, The Bank 32:15, & The Prison 50:23, for an average of 38:43. all clean. this one had a great gimmick to start us off, a little cramped for 6 people, but some cool individual tasks which is always fun. also the GMs here are great & thoughtful. one drew us personalized postcards
The BankFox in a Box ChicagoEscape roomIRLwe did 3 straight rooms here & RAILED every one: Zodiac 33:31, The Bank 32:15, & The Prison 50:23, for an average of 38:43. all clean. this one was supposedly the hardest, but we did it the fastest. also a little cramped w/ 6 people, but lots of puzzles, and having to use flashlights the whole time was cool & on-theme. also the GMs here are great & thoughtful. one drew us personalized postcards
The PrisonFox in a Box ChicagoEscape roomIRLwe did 3 straight rooms here & RAILED every one: Zodiac 33:31, The Bank 32:15, & The Prison 50:23, for an average of 38:43. all clean, but this was the only one not ~squeaky~ clean cuz the GM gave us an unsolicited clarification that we had already opened something. this one was the supposedly the 2nd hardest but felt the hardest / took the longest. definitely cramped with 6 people again, and there were a lot of complicated things to do, but creative design & fun also the GMs here are great & thoughtful. one drew us personalized postcards
Wonderland EscapeThe Clever Cat Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLdid 3 rooms here back-to-back solo, & this one was not a clean escape since i needed 1 hide-and-seek clue & 1 point in the right direction on a puzzle—i was stoning. this one could use a refurbishing since things are peeling off the walls, and some painted numbers are faded, but even the frustrating puzzles are on-theme w/ Alice, and the woman working here was great
The DollhouseThe Clever Cat Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLdid 3 rooms here back-to-back solo, & this escape wasn’t clean either bc i needed to be told where the very first clue was hidden after 10 minutes. it also took me 10+ min to do a standard jigsaw, so it realistically only took me 25 min of gameplay since there weren’t many puzzles. this one could also use some refurbishing re: faded painted numbers, & i would really advise eliminating the first hiding place, but spooky
Mission: Save RudolphThe Clever Cat Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLfirst reviewer??! did 3 rooms here back-to-back solo, & this one could use some iterating on a one frustratingly unclear clue, and the first lock was openable without the right combo, but a fun original theme, and the woman working here was great
The BirdMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLthis is my least favorite of the 3 MyssTics despite being their highest rated, but it’s such a high floor, dude. a little cramped w/ multiple ppl, and it’s a little inundating w/ info, but still a blast w/ some creative stuff. not a clean escape cuz we got one hide-and-seek hint to find a cypher, plus two unsolicited nudges that we were on a wrong puzzle & that we had already found a key without realizing yet, but given how much time we had left i really wish those weren’t handheld. firm believer that it’s our responsibility to comb thru everything then push thru the head-banging stuff, but all that time can still be well spent since we’re setting up dominos to fall fast later. tl;dr who cares, everyone needs to do all of these rooms
Ghost LightMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLthese folks don’t miss. this is a really cool, singular idea with a lot of magic. we had a buzzer-beater photo finish w/ 3 of us (1 who we just met that night), but we got 2 correction hints (for puzzles we understood but executed wrong), so it wasn’t clean, but i didn’t have the heart to tell our game master not to give unsolicited hints this time, so it wasn’t their fault.
Montauk ProjectMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLstellar. i’m v biased bc i love Stranger Things, but i think this is Mysstic’s best room, and it’s a Top 5 for me all time, currently Top 2, & i’ll save my next Superboost for it unless it gets beat within the month. we got one unsolicited instruction for the final button when we had a ton of time to spare, so that was mildly annoying, but they always mean well, and it didn’t detract. we only had 2 of us (and it was my sister’s first room EVER), but we BLEW thru Phase 1, got roadblocked in Phase 2 by one technical confusion, & Phase 3 had some really cool puzzles i’ve never seen before. all in all, an easy two-person escape clean 👍
Trapped in '88Big Screen Escapes - Mt. PoconoEscape roomIRLwe were clippin but then hit a frustrating non-linear roadblock. no-hints-clean tho 👍
Nuclear FamilyBig Screen Escapes - Mt. PoconoEscape roomIRLwe CRUSHED this room CLEAN. first time i’ve ever gotten on the leaderboard: #8 of the year & #3 of the last 30 days! and apparently it was their hardest rooms. was too many cooks in the literal kitchen, but the thing that gave us most trouble was opening an unlocked box.
