The Lost Mine - CLOSEDMission Escape Pitt StEscape roomIRLOverall a good room. A couple of big leaps to make, and one puzzle that just required an A or B try-it-and-see, but some neat elementelementss throughout. Be quick and don't miss it
The AlchemistFacadeEscape roomIRLWe did this room on the highest of the adjustable difficulty ratings, and started slowly (all our own doing) but warmed into it as we eventually progressed. There's good use of a variety of multi-step puzzles that all fit the theme, which twists along with the narrative. Our host gave us great hints when we panicked, and we were able to make it out with only seconds to spare.
Category 5FacadeEscape roomIRLA cute little room that really leaned into the theming well. The puzzles all fit well together and kept immersion strongly. I'll never be able to go camping again without locking up my campsite in a similar manner...
The InheritanceNarrow Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLVery smooth running room that our group vibed with. The puzzles all linked well to the narrative and were logical to work through. Really exceptional experience, and the hosting continues to be top notch with a great walkthrough afterwards
LaunchNarrow Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLGreat theming with little nods and references to military-based media. Really strong puzzle path design with streams criss-crossing as you progress through the room. Neat use of the space
UnderlandScram Escape Rooms Church StEscape roomIRLCute room for our group of 2.5. Lots to occupy the toddler wandering around while the adults struggled along. Some neat puzzles that kept to the theming well. No great challenge, but was what we needed that day. Good space for larger groups
Dr. M - CLOSEDMission Escape Pitt StEscape roomIRLSome of the props were slightly dated in this room but had a good flow to it. Probably better for teams and players in the earlier part of their escape room history. For experienced players you will have seen the style of most of these puzzles elsewhere - not a critique, they are classic puzzle styles. There is one puzzle that uses augmented reality via tablet which isn't great as it slows everything down, but the rest of that puzzle was pretty good and a nice team engagement
UndetectedNarrow Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLNarrow really know how to make a good puzzle path in their rooms, and their newest (at time of review) fit its professional theme feeling like we had wandered into (/broken into) the real thing. Great immersion with cheeky references. Strong recommendation for anyone with a tech/computer related set of interests. Can't wait for their next one
Legacy Of The SpyEscape Masters - RotoruaEscape roomIRLPretty straight forward room with maybe two puzzles only that we hadn't seen before? Puzzle path was smooth enough and only needed one clue to get redirected when one part wasn't signposted too well. Not one for enthusiasts or one that would challenge larger groups. There was apparently a variable difficulty setting but I recall it just being one extra puzzle, and only a difference of where the final MacGuffin is stored.
Time TravellerRainbow PlaylabEscape roomIRLDO NOT DO THIS 'ROOM'!!! It has: -broken puzzles they know about -broken puzzles they didn't know about -ghost puzzles -a puzzle with a combination lock that we "don't have to worry about that" -keys hidden out of reach of players with no means to obtain them -no apparent system for giving hints that would help players short of giving the final answer -inefficient communication system -a waste of space and design (this room could have been sooooooooo much more) The props and set (at least the parts that weren't broken) looked cool, and the space felt immersive (ignoring all the sound leak from the amusement arcade on the other side of the open-top wall). The staff were nice/smart enough to offer a full refund. But do not do this room. There are 50 other ones in Auckland, do all of them first.
Cursed CarnivalBreakout AucklandEscape roomIRLA couple of cute puzzles but nearly every prop showed a lot of wear and tear, the same puzzle styles were repeated, no immersion value, and the final lock was broken. Staff did their best to be nice about it but they obviously hadn't been trained to know how to run an escape room. These are just weak additions to an amusement center. I'd spend my money elsewhere first before going to any of their other rooms...
Stumped [Outdoor]Elude Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLOh wow. This an outdoor 'escape', and made it perfect to introduce our friends to a puzzling experience without going inside (because so many people incorrectly think Escape Rooms are going to be claustrophobic). We even split our big group into to two groups and could go head-to-head against each other at the same time. Really cool puzzles that would self-reset, we could pause the game and have a picnic at the tables provided (go on a sunny day!)
Busy Bees [Outdoor]Elude Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLWe took our 9 and 10 year olds to this and let them loose on the outdoor puzzles. The theming was great and there was a good mix of difficulties and types of puzzle for them to test their minds on. Definitely a great space to do a kids party for birthdays etc, that isn't the same party venues as every other gathering these days. Wouldn't take in 12years+ but that age is fine for the other rooms they have there.
Perpetual MotionElude Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThe first room I did and got me addicted to the industry. They set the bar really high here.
Wine Cellar EscapeEscape Manor BrisbaneEscape roomIRLGood theming with nice puzzle flow. Hosts don't really know how to do a walk-through/ debrief after though...
DarknessQuest RoomEscape roomIRLDid this room as a duo, with my colleague never having done escape rooms before that day. We got out of this with half the time yet to go... Super basic puzzles, the only difficulty coming from being blindfolded, nothing further. I'd try all their other rooms before this one
The Mystery of The Missing ProfessorArcadium AdventuresEscape roomIRLPassionate staff and holistic experience. Would be good to see their rooms rely on their strong puzzles rather than augmented reality shortcuts though
GodfatherPaniq Room SydneyEscape roomIRLWould be just okay except for a faulty puzzle with RFID pieces not triggering. Not even the GM could get it to work properly...
Hitman - CLOSEDEscape This - Manly Beach Sydney [prev. Room Eight]Escape roomIRLLots of wiring loose when we went, and broken furniture exposing what turned out to be maglock/ arguing unit type stuff. That and a timed lockout period on a safe lock after a wrong combination input shows why that type of safe doesn't get used in escape rooms any more...
