Between a like and a love for me. As much as I want to give it a love, it just doesn’t do quite enough for that. This was apparently the first room this company built, and for their first room, it’s really really good. The set is well done, and the room has a lot of charm. You can tell the owners put a lot into the room and their effort shines through. This room is probably around 50% physical locks. The puzzles aren’t that difficult and should be great for kids and families. For enthusiasts, it’s probably a little too easy, and I wish it had more content. There also aren’t any “wow” moments or aspects of the game that will blow you away. Customer service was great, and we talked to the owner after playing and she was really nice.

Pretty average room set and puzzle-wise that was made much better due to the live actor. Our GM was phenomenal and made our experience that much better. Pretty much all the moments the live actor chose to scare us were timed well. The first instance was so surprising I’m shocked that he was able to pull it off without any of us noticing him come into the room. One puzzle was so basic and ordinary that we overthought it and wasted time figuring out what to do next. There was a cool story moment for one person in the group and I kind of wish they leaned into that more as it could have made for a unique gameplay mechanic. This is an older room so I’m not going to knock the fact that there were a ton of locks, but I do wish there was more tech. I don’t think this is a must play room, but I had a good time.

Simple, but fun room with a mix of locks and tech. It’s more of a lower budget room compared to some of the other things in the surrounding area but they definitely do a good job with what they have. The puzzles are pretty easy with some stagnant points where we didn’t realize that something opened or just needed a moment to figure out what to do next. We finished pretty quickly as a team of 2 enthusiasts. There was one puzzle involving license plates that we solved in an unintended way. Maybe the clueing could be better for it? Other than that I don’t have any major critiques. The room won’t blow your mind but it’s a good time. The game master was also really nice and we ended up buying some take-home escape room board games since they had a sale going on.

Visually stunning game. The set is incredible. The puzzles, however…not so much. I really wanted to love this game because I’m a set snob but I just couldn’t. Some of the puzzles were downright unfair or unreasonable. We solved a beginning puzzle correctly but it didn’t trigger because we had to push the objects down for a few seconds for them to register. Game master had to come in to help us and even they couldn’t get it to work until they realized the input had to be triggered for longer. In the main portion of the game you had to learn multiple Chinese casino games in order to advance. The rules were provided but they were quite complex. There was also a puzzle that rewarded you for being familiar with how Chinese characters are written. An ending puzzle had a timer which was so fast that it was almost impossible to finish unless you knew mandarin and could do the action as you were reading. If you had to translate first, you would lose precious time. The game technically is also only 1 hour and 45 minutes with 15 minutes to debrief and choose who you think committed the crime (there are different endings based on who you choose). For a Chinese audience, which I think this game is more geared towards, it’s a great game. For everyone else, I would stay away unless you want to experience the set.

Set was okay but this room scarier because of the live actor. Some of the puzzles weren’t the most intuitive and/or were difficult solves. A “memorize the pattern” type of puzzle was pretty difficult even though we eventually got it. Before we played, they did say that this room was for a minimum of 4 (apparently a group of 3 had never finished) and we played with 3 people which likely made the game much tougher than intended. We barely didn’t finish (with 5 extra minutes) although we knew what to do and had just ran out of time. What’s frustrating is that they don’t provide you with something to write with which artificially adds to the difficulty. We mentioned this to a game master after the game and they said that was on purpose, which I personally feel is annoying, but whatever. The scare actor also scared us in the middle of us solving puzzles and so I felt that I was constantly looking over my shoulder while trying to focus which, again, artificially increased the difficulty. I feel like good horror rooms are able to instill scares and tense moments without taking away from the puzzle solving experience. One such moment was during the pattern recognition puzzle which made us completely mess up and waste precious time. There was also a puzzle involving light switches with more switches than you needed which also confused us and caused us to waste time. This room isn’t bad, hence the like, but there are certain annoyances which really take away from the experience.

Another decent game from Crypto with an above average set. It’s a good temple room, but if you’ve done some of the best temple rooms in North America, this doesn’t even come close. First timers will enjoy it, as the puzzles are not too difficult and the whole room is tech. We finished as a group of 2 with lots of time left. There wasn’t anything that really stood out to me about the room, but I had a fun time.

Decent room with an above average set, although for enthusiasts it might feel a little lackluster just because we’re likely to have seen a lot of cool things. The puzzles were pretty simple and we finished with a lot of time left as a group of 2. The room isn’t very scary at all, probably a 3/10 on the scare factor scale. One puzzle using audio was a little tough to hear but eventually we figured out what they were saying based on trial and error. First timers will really enjoy this room. To me, rooms of this quality are a baseline for what first timers should experience in order to be hooked on escape rooms. 1. Shipwreck 2. Sorcerer 3. Below Zero 4. Extraction 5. Temple 6. Kilgore

The Tomb: Raiders of the Sword

All I can say is, WOW! What an incredible experience. This is an Indiana Jones fan’s dream escape room. This is a realistic tomb exploring adventure that will make you get your hands dirty. It’s a pretty physical room. Crawling through small spaces and climbing/balancing are required. Gloves, hard hats, and knee pads are also required. Elbow pads are optional (but I would recommend wearing them). Like all of Revo’s games, this is a mimetic room, so there is no escape room logic. Anything you do in the room is actually what one might do when raiding a tomb. One part seems like it could potentially be lightly dangerous but honestly that makes it more fun. What I like about the Revo puzzles is that coming up with a solution makes you feel smart because you have to use what’s available to you in the world to succeed. This room gets a standing ovation. Visually impressive, quirky, and whimsical game that is impossible not to love. There are things you have to do in this game that are unique and downright weird (in a good way). As a result, the puzzles are super fun and rememberable. The story isn’t that deep but it is told in an enjoyable, humorous way. The ending is hilarious. You can easily do this room with 2 people, but we still had a good time with 3. Not a dull moment in this room, I enjoyed it all the way through. Easily a must play room in the Toronto area in a region packed with amazing rooms. We met one of the owners at their other location and she was very kind and fun to talk escape rooms with.
