Top SecretGame Over Escape Rooms - BrandonEscape roomIRLNot a bad little game Fun heist theme, good immersion which was enjoyable. I will say by Game Overs standards as there games have some really impressive set design; this was more average by their scale but still fun This was not too difficult as we finished in about 40 minutes with two of us. I’d caution a large group as you might finish in less than 30 minutes This is a good starter game or one to even consider soloing as there is nothing you couldn’t complete as a single player
UnguardedRiddler's Escape - TampaEscape roomIRLWhat a fun concept and game This is an atypical escape game as it is a bit heavier on live actor interaction however it’s a blast to play and perfect for a bigger group The puzzles and challenges were great but the real magic was the interactions and thinking on your toes. Honestly this might be a great one for the work group for team building as improv is important here but very forgiving Definitely add this to the wishlist
The Movie Monster Murder MysteryAmaze Games - Port CharlotteEscape roomIRLI could not have loved this room more Genuinely this is my perfect type of adventure It’s story driven, very original, blends humor and horror, it’s weaves between mystery and adventure and the puzzling is varied and fun I want to play this room again I will admit though I’m a sucker for the Universal originally monsters and this is a love letter to them and it’s so well written This room plays great for new players and enthusiasts. Not too scary and was also once of the better murder mysteries I’ve played (but I can’t tell you why … spoilers) The kicker is Tori was our GM and was absolutely delightful. Highly recommend this one
Trials of TrickeryAmaze Games - Port CharlotteEscape roomIRLThis is how you make a one room experience a fun adventure This had a great variety of puzzles, was very story driven and was just a treat to play I’ll admit I’m a sucker for a magic room and this really hit the right notes It also offered one of the smartest and narrative driven clueing systems I’ve seen in a room. It was up to you to use them or not. It was a genuine genius move to just help with the decision of “what next” when we hit a lull This is a perfect family room as nothing was too difficult but still offered a nice challenge in working out puzzles and logic in the room Highly recommend this and the mystery (which is now one of my favorite rooms) Tori was our GM and was amazing. Can’t wait to come back to finish out the rooms
Click 'N Glitch Arcade PalaceThe Escape Ventures - Port CharlotteEscape roomIRLAmazing!!! This Gen X’er loved this room so much You will enjoy it regardless of your age but the room, story, puzzle and immersion was … radical. (Let’s pull out the 80s lingo) Honestly this was perfect Escape Ventures in terms of puzzles matching perfectly to game style, limited but smart use of a live actor and just delightful immersion from start to finish Highly recommend this room and if time and budget are in your favor; play all three rooms here We cannot wait for the fourth room. Jacob was our GM and was fantastic! Tidbit: Easy parking Rebooking discount Food and drink options near by
Cosmic CrisisThe Escape Game - TampaEscape roomIRLVery fun room This is a great room if you love some balance in mechanic and tech puzzling The immersion was top notch as always from the escape game; they really know how to make you feel a part of the story and this room is no exception The puzzles had a nice mix of “follow the leader” and very fun mechanical and physical elements to tackle If you have a group with a mix of a crowd that loves video games or iPad adventure and those who like tried and true escape room experiences, this room offers a great balance of both experiences Definitely recommend this room
DraculaGame Over Escape Rooms - BrandonEscape roomIRLGreat room Fun immersion, unique puzzles and all had the Dracula vibe throughout Really hats off to the team on the immersion. As a fan of lore and Vlad Tepes; love weaving in some fact and fiction into the narrative and room Not too spooky and no gore; that was a very pleasant surprise Definitely recommend this room
LycanthropeThe Lair Escape GamesEscape roomIRLFantastic room I have to talk immersion first. If macabre could have a rating on Morty this would be the highest end of that scale and it’s devilishly delicious Nothing gory for the sake of gory but it’s wonderful to see a room jump into this level of design and immersion without sacrificing puzzle design and game play This was a wonderful romp to play and the connection between the design and puzzles was just top notch Highly recommend this one especially during the Halloween season Cannot recommend this location highly enough
CathedralThe Lair Escape GamesEscape roomIRLFantastic room Perfect Halloween room and the creepy and spooky vibe is strong in this one. Not for the kiddies unless your kiddies like very, immersive horror I on the other hand love spooky and this was right up my alley Great variety of puzzle, great mapping, fun story and just a fun-smart room Definitely add this to your date night or even better your Halloween tradition Highly recommend this one
PhobiaCountdown LouisvilleEscape roomIRLGreat concept and perfect example that a one-room experience can be a blast to play This room offers a great story, nice blend of puzzles and challenges and some fair but thoughtful puzzles to tackle This is a perfect Halloween room and a good one for new players. By no means easy but it offers less pressure based on the volume and challenge level Highly recommend this one especially for Halloween season
Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control - CLOSEDHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseMy second favorite from the event this year. Love a room that can tell a story and this room really nailed it. Awesome time and love the original rooms. Frankly would prefer more of the original rooms vs the IPs as the best rooms this year were the home-brew ones.
Hellraiser - CLOSEDHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseAn IP done very well. One of their best IP rooms they've created. A great recreation of elements from the first three movies in the series and it was so well done. Highly recommend this one this year - well worth your time.
Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness - CLOSEDHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseWhat a wonderful love-letter to Ozzy's body of work. This was just so well themed and connected to well to his body of work. Truly a marvel to experience and even better is there was no one in front of my group so we got to soak it in a bit and enjoy the immersion More rooms like these please
Legend of the YetiThe Escape Game - OrlandoEscape roomIRLFun and light-hearted room This is just a fun romp. It has a great mix of physical and mental challenges to tackle. The variety never strayed too far into the hard difficulty range. This felt like a very fair room in terms of puzzle density and challenge. This would be a nice mix of a starter/experienced group as there is enough to do but could be a nice way to ease into escape rooms; definitely friendly for the younger members of your team. I actually enjoyed they rethemed Gold Rush. It has the same room architecture but the puzzling is unique to this room. This did not feel like a retread in the least. Definitely recommend this one.
H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular! - CLOSEDHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseFar and away my favorite room this year. It told an awesome tale and really had that great b-movie, horror vibe start to finish. Having grown up watching Saturday night local-access, creature features with Svengoolie in Chicago; this really has a nice nostalgic vibe Please don't wait another three years for a sequel.
Cybergoria - CLOSEDHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseThis was a bloody wonderful romp. The story and progression were logical which is not an east feat to accomplish. The costumes were so well done and really blended into the background which really made this a stand out room this year.
Madlands: Caged Cannibals - CLOSEDHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseI love the risk they took on this one - very original concept and hope they keep rolling the dice on other rooms like this. This one just didn't work for me. The actors were great, this is just not my genre
Sinners - CLOSEDHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseThey really did a great job. My expectations were low going in as I heard reviews this one fell flat but I really enjoyed it. They were able to recreate a lot of the tension and bring the story to life in a faithful way. I also enjoyed some of the areas felt more open which was a good, jarring experience compared to other rooms. Well done on this IP
Evil Dead Burn - CLOSEDHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseNo Ash = No fun Credit to the actors but this is just not an IP worth having for me having grown up with the original movies.
Invasion: Alien Abduction - CLOSEDHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseFun room. Love the immersion, progression and vibe that was created. I just had the congo-line of people which really pulled me out of the room. Wish I could have went through it with a little more time to really take in the build.
