Murder at Emerald Estate - CLOSEDDice and ForkEscape roomIRLYou have been tasked with solving the murder so feels like cludeo mixed with a classic escape room and requires a fair amount of reading. You are meant to provide the answers to certain questions to the ‘detective’ at the end which could have been clearer (as we made up half the story) but it wasn’t a big deal. We enjoyed it overall and gave it a 8/10. The cafe/bar section has a large board game selection which you can play inside. We got chips and a drink each and the service was great.

The story for this room was strong. We thought we were doing poorly then next minute we had escaped. Included 2 puzzles we hadn’t seen before which was cool.
The Cabin In The Woods - CLOSEDConfinement - TaupoEscape roomIRLEnjoyed this room and the room dressing. Some frustrating puzzles. Enjoyed the first half more than the second half. Something was unlocked when it shouldn’t have been but the staff noticed quickly and fixed with little issue.
The Candy Factory - CLOSEDConfinement - TaupoEscape roomIRLThis room was ok, the Candy room decorations were fun but the room could have been a little more cohesive and some puzzles were a bit frustrating.
The Hunting LodgeConfinement - TaupoEscape roomIRLProbably our favourite room at this location. Required a few clues to get us through which were delivered through an iPad by scanning QR codes. Nice set dressing and mix of puzzles.

The Hermit's Hut - CLOSEDEmporium BrewingEscape roomIRLCompleted both rooms at Emporium Brewing. Hermits Hutt had some fun mechanics and puzzle solving. We spent a bit of time being stumped trying to find things hidden in plain sight, but after a 2nd or 3rd look we could find without any clues. Did escape with only half the time used but enjoyed the room.

At the beginning it felt like a standard escape artists room (which are pretty good rooms) but they managed to pull off some things that were very cool (no spoilers). Nice mix of lock and key and observational puzzles. Highly recommend.

Gangsters Hideout was certainly my preferred as it had more in it which meant we used up almost the whole hour (compared to 30 mins for the Hermits Hut). Good puzzles, and a mix of padlock and others. GM was great, and also an escape room enthusiast and was happy to chat. Also met poppy the brewery cat.

Due to the size of the room (huge) it was a little overwhelming but we got to a point where we were in groups of 2 working on different sections and completing puzzles which worked well. Room dressing was very impressive. GM did offer one clue early on which we didn’t ask for, but other than that was great. Highly recommended.
